Peace through superior firepower
| Thanks for all the suggestions. It will be a stocking stuffer, but I did order a pair of the Felco shears for her. I picked the F6, which is for "small to medium sized hands."
They've already been delivered, and they are a world apart from the ubiquitous Chinese shears you can pick up wherever.
I like the fact that every part of these shears is user-replaceable. These will be the last shears she'll need, unless she loses them. |

| Please let us know how she likes them, para. My wife is still using the pair I got her, for Christmas, close to thirty years ago. And, believe me, they get used. Every season. I don't have much call for hand-pruning like that. Mainly just removing small stuff that annoys me when I'm mowing. I'm reluctant to borrow hers--they seem almost a part of her, so I just got myself a pair of Fiskars at Lowe's or HD.

Did likewise; just got ‘em out of the mailbox. Also into the stocking.

Excellent choice! I have two pairs of these, one bought in the 70's, the other in the 80's when I thought I'd lost the first pair, both still going strong. The little flat spanner that came with them is very handy to have on your keychain, makes a decent screwdriver and light-duty pry bar in addition to its main function, adjusting the pivot tension on the pruners. |

| Para if she likes jewelry it never hurts. However what women crave is love and attention. They want to know that they’re being thought of. So, spending time with them is heaven. Dinner, plays/theater, opera/ballet (I can’t do the opera), gardening clinic, perhaps if they have a Chicago auto Show version of gardening. Weekend getaway perhaps somewhere where birds she hasn’t seen are plentiful. Good pair of binoculars for bird watching. Have any woodworking skills? You could make different kinds of birdhouses. A day at the spa is good especially if you get a couples massage. If not a couples, send her with a daughter, mother, good friend. New soft bathrobe or slippers. Soft down filled pillow. |

| How about a custom professional sketch of you and your bride on your wedding day or of her rocking a child (not knowing if you have children). Perhaps a sketch of her parents, or of her mother rocking her as a baby. Rent a sports car and take a weekend trip. |

I'm going out on a limb here and guessing you're not married.

| If you have kids and grand kids a big hit is one of those electronic picture frames. Anyone can send pictures to it from anywhere from a app on their phone. I got my wife one right after the first grand kid was born and now we have three. She just loves the darn thing. She will sit and watch it for twenty minutes at a time. The kids are sending new pictures to it all the time.
