For years when we lived in New Jersey my volunteer fire department would spend the day after Thanksgiving decorating the firehouse. This would take about 15 members about 4 or 5 hours, then when we were done I would make lunch for everyone. Then once my wife got home from shopping the two of us would start to decorate our house. This is what we did for years in New Jersey, and now living in Florida for the last 26 years we still wait till the day after Thanksgiving, does anyone else wait till Friday? Outdoor decorations go up in November about whenever the weather is favorable, but they’re not turned on until after Thanksgiving. It was always like this in past decades with everyone, especially growing up as a kid, but it seems in recent years, a segment of the population gets a huge jump on Christmas, months ahead. My wife is watching the parade as we speak. When I was a kid my uncle was very high up in Macys management. Every year he would ask if we wanted to be in the parade as a balloon/rope handler I always thanked him and declined. As I look back now I wish I had done it. That was so true for us here in Florida. Most houses have very little attic space and no basements for the most part. We used to keep our tree in the shed till one year when we pulled it out something had made a nest in it, so to the trash it went. Eventually we ended up with a little 3 foot tree that just fits in the attic. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.
