When I was a kid my uncle was very high up in Macys management. Every year he would ask if we wanted to be in the parade as a balloon/rope handler I always thanked him and declined. As I look back now I wish I had done it.

I've worked the parade for years as a contractor for Macys. Was on 77th St all day Wednesday during setup/inflation, then back at 4am for final checks and startup. Its a helluva complicated operation.
This year, I got tickets for my wife, daughter and granddaughter tor the viewing stands. Next year, I'm going to get the little one a spot on one of the floats, in a costume, waving to the crowd. She's got a few years before she's old enough to man a tether line...

As for decorations - the outside lights are up. The tree waits until the weekend prior, as per family tradition.

my wife usually does my Mothers tree (mom is 82 and has parkinsons) on Thanksgiving afternoon, and then ours the weekend after,

We started decorating inside early this year (1st week in November), but we've almost always put up outside decorations Thanksgiving weekend ( we were late a few times because of leaves or weather). This was last years display, we're still working on this years.

We have a small tree and my wife put it up Thanksgiving night. As of today she is finished shopping and nearly everything is wrapped and under the tree .

Weekend before Thanksgiving, lots of family and medical stuff going on, so it was get at it while the getting was good.

Tree went up inside and the grandkids helped decorate it, lights went up Thanksgiving week.

I just put them out, and have zero say on the timing.....
