“Removed from a role” is a way of suggesting but not saying they were fired. Probably still on payroll, and of course not being named…

Another agency that needs to be scrutinized when the Don takes over.

This reminds me of a news briefing that FEMA held in California a number of years ago. They announced it so late they were afraid that there would not be enough reporters for a good photo ops of the event. So, they had FEMA personnel sitting in the audience pretending to be reporters so that the event photos would look good. This was reported by several California news outlets and attempted to be promptly buried by FEMA.

True story, check it out.

Since then I have witnessed many times when FEMA management wanted as many reservists as possible to be in the field with their FEMA shirts on (for visibility purposes) whether or not they were actually assigned a task.

This shows there is a cancer that needs to be removed.

Not just in FEMA.

"Scrutinized" isn't what I was thinking. Gutted is.

DeSantis Orders Probe After FEMA Allegedly Avoided Trump Supporters’ Homes
FEMA spokesperson says the agency is ‘horrified’ by reports and is reaching out to affected residents to ensure assistance.

By Caden Pearson
11/9/24

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Friday that he has ordered an investigation into reports indicating that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relief workers neglected storm-affected supporters of former President Donald Trump while assessing damage from Hurricane Milton.
According to screenshots of internal messages published by The Daily Wire, a FEMA official instructed relief workers who were identifying residents eligible for federal aid in Lake Placid, both orally and via internal messages, that it was best practice to “avoid homes advertising Trump.”
One image shows that a relief worker uploaded a photo of a property with a Trump flag with a note stating, “Trump sign no entry per leadership.” Other notes stated: “Per leadership no stop Trump flag;' ”Trump sign,“ and ”Trump sign, no contact per leadership.”
Relief workers reportedly skipped at least 20 homes since late October in a district that voted 70 percent for Trump. The Epoch Times has not independently verified these claims.
Responding to the report, DeSantis called the FEMA supervisor’s message “blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy.”
DeSantis said that he has directed Florida’s Division of Emergency Management to look into “the federal government’s targeted discrimination of Floridians who support Donald Trump.”

“New leadership is on the way in DC, and I’m optimistic that these partisan bureaucrats will be fired,” he added.
The Epoch Times contacted FEMA for comment.
A spokesperson for the agency told The Daily Wire that the supervisor who sent the messages, Marn’i Washington, is not actively working for the agency pending an investigation. The agency said it was horrified and deeply disturbed by Washington’s actions.
“While we believe this is an isolated incident, we have taken measures to remove the employee from their role and are investigating the matter to prevent this from happening ever again,” the spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
Washington didn’t have the authority to tell relief workers to avoid the homes of Trump supporters, the spokesperson said. The agency said it is taking the matter very seriously and is contacting the residents who may have been overlooked to remedy the situation.
To date, FEMA said it has helped more than 365,000 Floridian households impacted by both recent Hurricanes Helene and Milton and has provided over $898 million in direct assistance to survivors.
“We are horrified that this took place and, therefore, have taken extreme actions to correct this situation and have ensured that the matter was addressed at all levels,“ the FEMA spokesperson said. ”Helping people is what we do best and our workforce across the agency will continue to serve survivors for as long as it takes.”
The news spread on social media, prompting responses and action from elected officials in Congress.
Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) verified the report’s claims, saying his office had confirmed its substance with FEMA.
Rep. Anna Paulina (R-Fla.), who represents Florida’s 13th district and is a member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, wrote to FEMA chief Deanne Criswell.
“It is completely unacceptable that a FEMA official was allowed to exploit Hurricane Milton to further their political beliefs at a time when Americans were struggling due to the damage caused by the storm,” Luna wrote. “The opportunity to apply for federal aid through FEMA should never be used to discriminate against an individual.”
Luna asked Criswell to respond by Nov. 25 with information about when the agency became aware of Washington’s guidance, how guidance sent to workers is approved, how long FEMA’s investigation will take, and what steps are being taken to hold Washington accountable.

Fired FEMA Official: Not Helping Trump Voters Was FEMA Policy in North Carolina Too
DAVID STROM 2:30 PM | November 12, 2024

Avoiding helping Trump supporters was a nationwide policy, according to the woman who was fired for putting it in writing.
The purpose of doing so, we are told, is that Trump supporters are dangerous to FEMA workers, and therefore should be avoided.
I don't know to what extent the accusation that Trump supporters are any more likely to be hostile to FEMA workers, but if so, I am pretty sure that cause and effect are reversed. Obviously, Trump supporters who suspect that FEMA was doing its best not to help them were right, and since that is the case, they have every reason to be less than friendly to FEMA workers.
However, I seriously doubt there is much to the accusation in the first place. After all, there are countless videos of people in hurricane-ravaged areas begging for help. No doubt there is some Trump supporter somewhere who was nasty to a FEMA worker after being left to suffer for days, but the claim that this was a trend is...doubtful.
FEMA is, after all, part of the Department of Homeland Security, and under DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas nothing good has happened, and lots that is evil has. This is the man who controlled the porous border, is the boss of the Secret Service, and who has presided over disasters aplenty.
In a sane world our corporate media would have investigated accusations against FEMA, but we don't live in a sane world. The Pravda media spent weeks mostly ignoring the disaster and defending FEMA with no evidence save FEMA's own propaganda. The media serves the purpose of amplifying the elite's narrative, not getting to the truth.
Under the Biden administration Republicans have been labeled "domestic extremists," Catholics as potential terrorists, and parents at school board meetings have been classified as threats. So is it any wonder that FEMA would label Republicans threats?
They have treated us like domestic enemies and justified this treatment with the claim we are Nazis, deplorables, White Supremacists, and every other evil classification they can think of.
This is what Republicans mean by the weaponization of government. Based on what amounts to a social credit system, benefits and punishment are distributed at the will of the people in power.
This rot runs deep in our system. Over 90% of Washington D.C. votes for Democrats every election for a reason: Democrats control the administrative state--even under Republicans.
We have to change that, not so we can distribute the goodies to our allies, but to destroy the corruption that makes that possible. It is corrosive.

This is really nauseating. It sort of appears that this DSA Crew lead was following the intent of written and unwritten(verbal) FEMA policy for interaction with survivors. As a 20 year veteran as a FEMA reservist I saw many examples of this type of decision making by totally incompetent FEMA midlevel managers.

As a former State Police command officer, I had the experience and motivation to push back on these types of directives. However, I had to be very careful about documenting incidents outside of the FEMA system. I have experienced more than once where FEMA mysteriously deleted an official record of a situation that could have embarrassed them. A number of times, I documented a situation the same as I formerly wrote a police report.

I received no help after Katrina. The guy whas there for ten minutes max. Many of those that got help were given trailers with formaldehyde that made them sick and damaged their lungs. Last I heard hundreds of these trailers were in Arkansas just rotting away. FEMA needs to be reworked. The expertise is out there.

$3800.00 a year for flood insurance down the toilet.

Unbelievable reason Florida couple's flood claim was denied after heartless insurer spotted 3.5 inch step

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...urricane-helene.html

A Tampa couple were left devastated to learn their insurance company denied their flood claim because their living room is classified as a basement.

Food waters rushed through Jaime Giangrande-Holcom's family home and ruined everything in the living room when Hurricane Helene hit the Sunshine State in September.

The extensive damage prompted her and her husband to file a claim through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

However, an insurance adjuster said the three-and-a-half inch 'step down' from the entrance to the living room means the area is technically classified as "basement", and therefore not included in their coverage.

'It's ridiculous. To even come out and say the word "basement" in the state of Florida is comical,' Jaime told WFLA.

A FEMA spokesperson told the local news outlet it is important for homeowners to understand what their policy does and does not cover.
