BLM privilege and Jan. 6 Capitol riot shame

When prominent young far-left activist Quintez Brown was arrested last week for trying to assassinate a Jewish mayoral candidate in Kentucky, he was portrayed sympathetically by the media and immediately bailed out of jail by his Black Lives Matter comrades, who crowd-funded the $100,000 cost.

Brown, 21, had BLM privilege. A celebrated gun-control advocate, anointed as a rising star by the Obama Foundation, he was an honored guest on Joy Reid’s MSNBC show. He was granted a biweekly opinion column in the Louisville Courier-Journal to spew boilerplate leftist, race-based, anti-cop sentiment.

And according to Andy Ngo, author of “Unmasked,” the definitive Antifa expose, Brown’s social media accounts show a disturbing allegiance to anti-Semitic causes, such as the Lion Of Judah Armed Forces, an armed black nationalist group which is linked to the virulently anti-Semitic Black Hebrew Israelites.

One of the bullets he allegedly fired from a Glock handgun at mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg came so close it grazed the man’s sweater.

But none of that is a problem for GoFundMe, which routinely cuts off crowd-sourced donations to nonviolent Canadian truckers and nonviolent Jan. 6 defendants but never interferes with BLM’s cash.

Nonviolent, unarmed Jan. 6ers can’t get bail, are vilified as domestic terrorists, and are banned from crowd-funding resources to pay crippling legal expenses.

Nonviolent Canadian truckers also are vilified, refused crowdfunding, have their bank accounts frozen and their small-fry donors doxxed.

Notice the discrepancy in treatment?

Democrats protected
No one has doxxed the donors to BLM’s Louisville Community Bail Fund, like they did the people who donated to the Canadian truckers or to Kyle Rittenhouse. The Washington Post didn’t go phoning BLM donors asking them to explain themselves, like they did the trucker donors.

Instead, the official narrative about Brown was immediately shaped in his favor. He was depicted as a “social justice activist” with mental-health issues, and blame for the shooting was initially attributed on social media to white supremacists.

The Las Vegas Sun slyly published an editorial saying “the shooting comes amid a rise in threats against politicians fueled by increasingly violent rhetoric coming from extremist Republicans.” The editorial later was edited to include Brown’s BLM links but the gratuitous slander against Republicans remained.

It is galling but by now we should be used to the protected status of radical leftist groups such as BLM and Antifa — not just in the media but in our criminal justice system.

BLM is treated like a sacred cow — despite the racial division and violent unrest it fueled during the 2020 summer of riots, despite the $30 million that has gone missing from BLM coffers, despite its dodgy tax status, despite the personal real estate spending spree of BLM’s co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, despite the complaints that BLM gave little financial support to families of black people killed by police.

The 2020 BLM riots injured or blinded more than 2,000 police officers, resulted in the deaths of more than two dozen people and property damage worth more than $1 billion of damage, the most expensive in insurance history.

But according to the Democrats, their pet media outlets, and a disturbing number of judges, the violent mayhem was morally justified, and so the vast majority of charges have been dismissed.

Lefties’ mass mayhem
By contrast, we are supposed to believe that the Jan. 6 Capitol riots were the worst attack on American democracy since the Civil war, worse than 9/11, the president told us, and the rioters must be treated as terrorists on par with ISIS.

Yet, as RealClearInvestigations has found, the 2020 BLM riots resulted in “15 times more injured police officers, 30 times as many arrests, and estimated damages in dollar terms up to 1,300 times more costly than those of the Capitol riot.”

The sentences meted out over both riots also are vastly disproportionate.

For instance, two Brooklyn activists who set fire to an NYPD homeless outreach van in Greenwich Village in July 2020 were sentenced to six months in prison on Friday.

That’s almost three years less than the sentence handed down to the so-called QAnon Shaman, Jacob Chansley, who became the face of the Capitol riot after being photographed wandering around in a Viking hat and face paint. He committed no violence, damaged no property and was unarmed, but he spent more than ten months in prison without trial before he was slapped with a 41-month sentence plus three years of supervised release.

‘Unprecedented’ bias
Compare the zero-jail term given to BLM rioter Mohamed Hussein Abdi, who tried to set fire to a high school in Minneapolis and just was sentenced to probation earlier this month. Or BLM rioter Montez Terriel Lee, who was sentenced to 10 years in jail for burning down a pawn shop in Minneapolis and killing a 30-year-old man inside.

Unlike the piecemeal legal treatment of the BLM riots, the criminal investigation into the Capitol riot is the largest in US history.

The “scope and scale . . . are really unprecedented, not only in FBI history, but probably DOJ history,” boasted Michael Sherwin, the zealous federal prosecutor formerly in charge of the investigation.

But you didn’t need Sherwin to tell you that America is operating two unequal systems of justice when it comes to Democrat-friendly BLM and the Trump supporters arrested over the Capitol riot.

The final irony is that BLM now is using the mayhem they created as an excuse for leniency. Louisville BLM organizers reportedly claimed that their man Quintez Brown may have been suffering from PTSD after two years of social unrest.

California greenlights Black Lives Matter to raise funds again after group pulled accounting gimmick

California authorized the national Black Lives Matter group to resume fundraising in the state on Wednesday, less than two weeks after the charity pulled an unusual accounting gimmick that enabled it to further delay reporting its 2020 finances until mid-May.

California had previously ordered Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation to cease fundraising in the state in a Jan. 31 letter that also threatened to hold the leaders of the charity personally liable if they don't fork over information about what the group did with its financial windfall from 2020. The liberal state's greenlight to BLM to resume fundraising also comes less than two weeks after the charity revealed that two longtime allies of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had taken key roles at the group.

"BLMGNF is current in its reporting to the Registry and is authorized to solicit in California," a spokesperson for the California attorney general's office told the Washington Examiner.

BLM announced it had voluntarily shut down its ability to raise funds on Feb. 2 amid legal threats from California and Washington. BLM's fundraising pages on its website and on ActBlue remain deactivated as of Thursday afternoon.

BLM also remains removed from Amazon's charity platform, AmazonSmile, as of Thursday afternoon.

BLM revealed last week it had changed its 12-month accounting cycle to run July through June, a move that enabled it to report a sparse, short-year Form 990 tax return to the IRS that covered its activities from January 2020 through June 2020, a time frame the group was entirely dormant as it was a fiscally sponsored project of the California charity Thousand Currents.

Thousand Currents dumped $66.5 million into BLM's coffers in October 2020, according to an asset transfer agreement previously reported by the Washington Examiner. Because of its recent fiscal year change, BLM now has until mid-May to report to the IRS and to the public what it did with those funds.

Charity experts previously told the Washington Examiner that BLM's move to change its fiscal year was "unusual and irregular."

BLM filings last week also revealed that the law firm of prominent Democratic lawyer Marc Elias, who is best known for his funding of the discredited anti-Trump Steele Dossier, is now in the care of BLM's books. The records also show that Minyon Moore, a Democratic operative with close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, took up a position on BLM's board.

In early February, BLM had fallen out of compliance in California, Washington, New Mexico, New Jersey, North Carolina, Connecticut, Colorado, Maryland, Maine, and Virginia for its failure to report what it did with its financial windfall from 2020. There was no indication that BLM had changed its fiscal year until it revealed its short-year 2020 Form 990 last week.

As of Thursday, BLM's charity registration has been reinstated in California, New Mexico, Connecticut, Colorado, and Maine.

BLM remains out of compliance in New Jersey, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington as of Thursday afternoon.

Washington ordered BLM in early January to "immediately cease" soliciting contributions in the state due to its failure to report its 2020 finances to the state. BLM has been "involuntarily closed" in Washington since Jan. 5, according to the state's Corporations and Charities Filing System.

The Washington Examiner first reported last week that Amazon had booted BLM off AmazonSmile as the charity faces compliance problems in states across the country.

BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who resigned from the charity in May amid scrutiny of her personal real estate purchases, said on Feb. 9 that the unaccounted millions her group received in 2020 came from "white corporation guilt."

"People have to know we didn't go out and solicit the money," Cullors said. "This is money that came from white guilt, white corporation guilt, and they just poured money in."

BLM will have to report its five highest compensated independent contractors who received more than $100,000 between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, when it files its next Form 990, which is due on May 15 at the latest.

BLM likely paid a substantial amount in contracting fees in 2020. The charity reported to the IRS in August 2020, when it applied for tax-exempt status, that it expected to incur precisely $12,706,366 in "Professional Fees" expenditures in 2020.

All three key BLM stakeholders that were in control of the charity before Cullors resigned in May 2021 were closely tied to or were in direct control of consulting firms that claimed to do business with BLM, the Washington Examiner previously reported.

A prominent Black Lives Matter leader in Boston and her husband have been charged with using a $6,000 grant to take at-risk youth to a Philadelphia retreat on themselves — for a getaway to Maryland, restaurants and shopping sprees, among other things.

Monica Cannon-Grant, 41, founder of the nonprofit Violence in Boston, and her husband,, Clark Grant, 38, were charged Tuesday in an 18-count federal indictment, including charges for wire fraud and making false statements to a mortgage lending business.

In June 2019, she was given a check for $6,000 for a trip to Philly “to give these young men exposure to communities outside of the violence riddled neighborhoods that they navigate daily,” the Boston Globe reported.

Instead, the couple used the money to take a vacation to Maryland, eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Shake Shack and other eateries, and pay for car rentals, Walmart purchases and visits to a nail salon, the feds allege.

The indictment charges them in connection with three separate schemes — defrauding donors, lying on a mortgage application and illegally collecting about $100,000 in pandemic unemployment benefits, according to the Globe.

The foundation invested $32million in stocks from the $90million it received as donations amid racial justice protests in 2020.

The investment is expected to become an endowment to ensure the foundation's work continues in the future, organizers say.

But still, after spending more than $37million on grants, real estate, consultants and other expenses, the BLM movement is still worth tens of millions of dollars.

Also raising eyebrows was the fact that during the last fiscal year, Cullors was the foundation board's sole voting director and held no board meetings, according to the filing. Although that is permissible under Delaware law, where the foundation is incorporated, that governance structure gives the appearance that Cullors alone decided who to hire and how to spend donations.

However, current board members allege that was never the truth.

'This 990 reveals that (the BLM foundation) is the largest black abolitionist nonprofit organization that has ever existed in the nation's history. What we're doing has never been done before,' said Shalomyah Bowers, who serves as the foundation's board secretary.


'We needed to get dollars out to grassroots organizations doing the work of abolition, doing the work that would shift the moral tide of this world towards one that does not have or believe in police, prisons, jails or violence,' he said.

I'm not exactly sure what Patrice Cullors is trying to claim here -- but I think NottheBee is right. I think she's trying to claim that it's white people's fault that Burn Loot Murder hasn't filed its necessary paperwork and done its legally-required disclosure because white people flooded it with too much "white guilt money."

A Professor of Pan-African Studies at Cal State Los Angeles says that white people should not ask for an invite to any Juneteenth “cookouts” over the weekend. Professor Melina Abdullah — a “hip-hop scholar” — said the newly designated federal holiday should be called “Reparations Day” for white individuals. Abdullah is also a co-founder of the Los Angeles BLM chapter.
“Attention White People….. Please don’t ask if you can come to the cookout…..” Abdullah wrote in a tweet. “Juneteenth is freedom day for Black folks. It should be #Reparations day for white folks,” Abdullah continued.
