With good marksmanship, you can knock them down at close distance. I've done it in the house a few times.

I've used mine to dispatch mosquitoes (very challenging "on the wing"), a bee or two, and a scorpion (from a safe distance of course!), in addition to routine flies. Having watched HRK's video, I'm not about to take on an entire hive of Yellowjackets, until the 4.0 (flamethrower edition) of the Bug-A-Salt hits the market, but I'm glad I bought my 3.0 version and keep readily at hand. ETA: I probably could have saved money by simply using OTC Table Salt, but I felt it was necessary to go with the "Bug-A-Salt" brand "High Performance Salt", not only because the 26 ounce container is specially formulated for maximum effectiveness (as shown on HRK's video), but also because it's "Gluten Free"!!!

No joy for us Californians. I have to ship to my buddy in New Mexico or my brother in Illinois and then have them ship to me.

I bought one of these as well and if I was going to indulge I had to get the laser sight too.

The 3.0 has a tighter pattern than previous versions and also the safety stays where you put it instead of resetting each shot. I like it a lot and seems well built.

I have killed flies and wasp, bees but could not kill the mighty cicada killing wasps, just pissed them off. Flies and skeets are easy...other bigger stuff you have to be right on them to have a chance.

We had an earlier version floating around the Reno-Stead tanker base, for a time. It was very popular. With the doors left open for ventilation, there seemed to be a steady supply of flies.

And salt, all over the place.

I started looking at these today, not sure if double the price is worth it over the original 3.0. They claim the Shred-Er can take out scorpions and wasps


The Crosman is a real pellet/bb gun that can use the salt cartidges

These would probably damage dry wall so outside use only I would think

My 2.0 is a blast to use. I think a 3.0 is in my future.

I love my 2.0. My favorite back yard pass time is sitting on my lawn chair drinking beer and shooting flies. Indoor it is a great roach killer. Little bastards run so fast you can't step on them. One blast flips them over and their soft side is exposed. Second shot does the job. I tried Kosher Salt but the 2.0 doesn't do well with it.

You know better, obviously you need at least .22 short for yellow jackets, preferably 5.56mm. I only load 62gr. gold dots for such occasions myself.

I believe the Bug Shot will knock a wasp on it's ass. It went though paper at 24"

I don’t know what version by brother in GA has, but he has sent me numerous videos of him using the Bug A Salt to send Joro spiders on his outside deck to spider hell.
