Tony,
small donation check sent to Artie.

I am sorry for the delay, but had to wait for a payment to come in.

Many blessings and prayers for you.

Dave

Small donation sent your way Tonyny to Artie via popmoney ... get better and hang in there. In the end, you'll be better/happier for having travelled this rough path.

All popmoney and paypal donations received by 1600 today, were deposited today.

So far, no checks have arrived by snail mail.

If you have a message from a service that your donation has not been claimed, please let me know so I can try to track it.

Thanks all.

Hi Artie,

I received an email today stating you still have not accepted my popmoney donation.

Did you get it? I put my forum name in the notes.

Thanks!

^^^Yes, I got it and it is reported as being "In Process" by the POPMoney interface with my bank. I assume it will clear in a day or two.

Thanks for checking in.

Artie, I'm still trying to get PayPal to work for me. Had to wait for my bank to link to the PayPal account and get confirmed. Then for some reason I wasn't able to send money still, so I've deposited money into my PayPal account but that apparently takes a few days. Christ, I started this account specifically for this figuring it would be faster than mailing a check since I was on the ship and couldn't get to a mailbox, but at this rate I think I could hand deliver it faster.

Anyway, hoping the money is cleared by tomorrow. I'm assuming you're still accepting donations.

Your bank or credit union probably offers online Bill Pay. No cost to either sender or receiver, simple, easy to use. I use it for just about everything I need to pay, both personal and business, with the exception of paychecks for the people who work for me. I could actually use it for issuing paychecks, too, but they prefer to receive paper. Gotta keep the worker bees happy, otherwise they don't produce honey.

I'll keep that in mind for next time. Whatever I was doing seemed to be way more complicated than it should've been. But now that everything is finally set up with PayPal, it should be a smooth operation the next time I try to use it.

Anyway, Artie, the funds finally cleared and have been transferred according to PayPal. Keep truckin', Tony.

If you haven't tried online bill pay with your bank or credit union, give it a try. It costs nothing, even saves you the cost of a stamp vs. paying a bill by mailing a check. There's a one-time setup for each person or company that you want to send money to, then after that it's just click on the name, enter the amount and the date that you want them to receive payment, and click on "send." Easy-peasy.

Plus, if there's ever a payment received after the specified date (or not received), the bank or credit union will handle the problem and even pay a late fee if necessary. You can set it up for auto-pay, for example your home mortgage or rent, or your cable bill, or whatever. It lets you pay by check from anyplace you have internet access, even if you're out on the ship and there's no mailbox to drop an envelope into. Give it a try. I've been using it ever since it was first available, sometime in the 1990s. Never a problem.

FYI - For those of you unfamiliar with Popmoney, it is a 3rd party service that many banks use for their Bill Pay services. A good friend of mine that I've known for decades works there and it is a legit company/service (whose branding isn't always apparent even though it is the BillPay engine behind the scenes).

I think we've done a fine job of getting Tony squared away. As a matter of fact, I don't think we could have possibly done any better.

ArtieS tells me that when all is tallied, we've collected something in excess of $3700 for Tony. Additionally, we had not one but two attorneys- ArtieS and jehzsa, making arrangements for Tony to have his own attorney, and all that is now in place.

Tony is now in a position to afford a deposit and first month's rent on an apartment. The members of SIGforum provided a bridge for Tony through these troubles, and he's going to be fine.

Thanks to each of you Smile
