Jeebus. If you don't want what Harley Davidson sells, buy something else.

Not the sentiment at all. It's simply that ALL harleys suck when compared to almost every other manufacturer out there it terms of engineering, performance, tech, etc ad nauseam.
It has nothing to do with not building a sport bike.

I don't even really ride a sport bike. I have a Yamaha XSR which is a more comfortable and neo retro looking naked bike. Even on that I'm 2 full seconds faster in the quarter mile and have the suspension and skill to rattle the oil stains off any harley's undercarriage in the corners. Another cool thing I have is ......LIQUID FRIKIN COOLING!.

Actual H-D factory events are fine, inclusive, and can be fun. 'BIKER EVENTS' on the other hand... not so much. Those seem to attract the assholes from all walks of life.

Maximum cringe.

I have owned a lot of motorcycles brands over the years. I currently own a 2021 HD Low Rider S and it’s been great. I always find the keyboard haters funny because they are so full of shit. In real life, when your hanging out with other riders at the coffee shop, nobody gives a shit what you ride. We are into all the bikes.

This has been my experience. Occasionally you find some douche that has to blather his opinion about how much Harley sucks, or leaks oil, or whatever other tired cliche. We just laugh at him, just like we laugh at the occasional douche wearing full BMW branded suit, who loudly insists his BMW has the best engineering and is better than anything else, or the Ducati rider that does similarly. Usually, grownups who really like bikes can appreciate all brands and styles of bikes. Retards like to generalize and throw shade, though.

Mr 1KPerDay, instead of mildly insulting all retarded folks would it not have been better to directly insult the person who drew your ire?

Not so fast Grasshopper! All HD bikes are fuel injected with ECM, BCM, those are modules that control engine and body functions (not the body functions of the rider) the wiring has been upgraded for years to CAN-BUS systems, they have Traction control, ABS, most have dual four piston calipers, the engines now are 8 valves, hence the term M8 and in the big twin touring line, they are LIQUID FRIKIN COOLED! Big Grin .

Read Stickmans posts, everything for him is about sport bike, youth bike,
buy a sport bike company.

HD does build a "sporting" bike it's just not his kind of sport bike. The new Sportster line, 975 to 1250 cc, 90 to 121 HP engines, liquid-cooled, double overhead camshafts, variable valve timing. It has 3 pre-programmed Ride Modes (Sport, Road, and Rain) or create your own custom mode — tuning your bike with a specific combination of power delivery, engine braking, Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) settings.

Glad you have the bike you like and I'd ride with you on my big ol Harley, I don't care what anyone rides, and I promise, no assless chaps oh and you can admire my twin LIQUID FRIKIN COOLED cylinders behind my LIQUID FRIKIN COOLER Radiators cleverly hidden in the lowers so it doesn't look like I'm riding a radiator with a motorcycle attached.

Did I mention my HD has LIQUID FRIKIN COOLING? Razz Big Grin

I only bash HD so hard because the HD fans I’ve run into talk endless trash, troll VERY hard and don’t realize the brand is mediocre at best.

They could be a lot better if they tried harder. I wish they had capitalized on the opportunities they had been given over the years.

As a fan of domestic muscle cars I feel like HD let us down.

I own a '22 HD Police Road King. So far the bike fits my needs. Before that, I had a 2005 Yamaha FZ1. It was fun but I found myself doing stupid shit on it. Crazy what that thing would do. 100 MPH in 1st gear and it would get there in about 4 seconds. Sold it before I killed myself and bought the RK. I would have bought the newer Gold Wing (and still probably will one day) but it was $10k more than what I've got into the Cop King and maintenance was quite a bit more too (I do my own wrenching but I did account for how complicated some of the procedures for other bikes are). So far the Cop King has been a good fit for me (a lot of 2 up)

Sure it's a pig but any bike in that touring class is porky: BMW K1600 = 809, Honda GW = 805, Cop King = 842

Brakes on the Cop King may not be Brembo's but they stop from 60-0 quicker than I care to ever have to again.
Power is more than adequate for it's purpose but there are ways of getting more out of it (for less than the $10k price difference over the other 2 bikes)
Comfort is subjective but I rode it from my home north of Richmond, VA to Daytona, FL in one day and it was plenty comfy for my lard ass (6', 240lbs) For perspective the FZ1 was a 2 hour bike at best with a quality aftermarket seat.
Dealer support is what truly sold me on the bike---Pick a direction and I'll bet you're within 40-50 miles of a HD dealer. Makes things easier if you DO have any issues with the bike while travelling. These new M8 engines are quite reliable, so most stops are maintenance related or to pick up new merch (WHICH IS THE TRUE HARLEY CULT).

All of the other stuff is just noise. One can pick nits all they want with respect to any brand now or ever has been, you can always find a fault with it if you choose to. I've known people that say they'll never ride a Harley, much less own one (yep, that was me Razz) and I've known people on the other end of the spectrum too. Dyed in the wool Harley whores that ended up buying a lighter/faster bike that fit their needs or desires at that point in their lives. That's what it all boils down to: the same reason we move from this old but fully functional gadget to that new hotrod doodad. We simply WANT to! Guns are perfect examples. Show of hands...who has sold off a gun you didn't mesh with to buy the latest, simply to sell it to move onto something else or come back to the one that you had sold to begin with? I know damn well I've done it on multiple occasions and will certainly do so in the future too.

I don't think anyone needs to be tribal about any of it. The cliques are walking talking clichés if I've ever seen them. I will talk moto's with anyone on 2 wheels (or 4, 6, 18 or none even Wink). It's all about having fun anyway. Arguing to me just isn't fun!

With regard to the moronic story originally posted: None of that would have stopped me from buying my Road King. The bullshit with Budweiser, even after all the fallout from BL? Not gonna selloff what I've already got but I don't think I'd be down to fund anymore of that nonsense and if the Cop King ever causes me grief, it's off to the glue factory!

Wow. People are passionate about their rides. As someone who’s favorite ride is a 1977 Yamaha XS650, I guess I can only say:

“I’m with you fellers.”

This article is all over the place. I know guys with ninjas and hayabusa and GSXR’s etc. and I know folks with cruisers.

Since I was in my teens and 20s and I’m only in my 40’s now I’ve always like the 40’s 50’s styling of a heritage softail or fat boy. Trikes and grand american mega cruisers are not my style Neighbor had both a soft tail custom and late 90’s fat boy and let me ride them including to the hollister rally. The bikes that can do 200 are impressive but never appealed to me. I can dude just as easily at 70-80 as 180.

I even had a little Honda 200 in high school. Screamed like hell at about 65 so freeway ride was miserable.

Still trying to figure out how this attacks conservatives. Kowtowing tk the woke and making electric bikes that will financially cripple a company is just sad. and having a DEI persona well that’s just any public company these days.

Yep hence this thread, so as not to derail this one into further politics, it's a ridiculous article as far as the innuendo of HD and Wokeness...

Some prefer oysters, some prefer snails. Arguing over motorcycles is like arguing over peoples taste in anything subjective. Pointless, but entertaining to a point as long as you remember that in the end nothing productive will be accomplished.

That purple sportster is a sweet looking bike. Hopefully we can all at least agree on that. I guess I do not have a strong enough opinion because I do not even have pictures of my scooters. Any Triumph guys out there or I am the only one?

I love them all. If budget was no object I would like to have a old Honda Interceptor, Something Italian, Suzuki TL, Triumph Thruxton R, BMW 1250GS, Husky 701SM and My HD. Just off the top of my head.

That is a pretty good looking bike. I definitely agree with you guys on that.

What year is it? Is that a custom paint job/color? It looks fantastic.
