Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that this latest procedure takes care of all Ollie's woes. He seems like a really cool dog.

Prayers for your little one. We love our dachshunds (we're on 5 and 6). Lost 2 over the last year, including one on my birthday. They do have a way to grab hold of your heart.

Visited Ollie today.

Must admit I was utterly devastated for the first half hour. It was all he could do to barely lift his head while laying on his side. Screw the man card- I cried.

Later the little lad lifted his front body, ate some deli turkey i brought with me, a small bone, and drank some water. Then he napped and I saw minor movement with his front paws, which was the first the vet told me she’s seen, and then he woke up.

He gave me some kisses and some tail thumps. There is some hope!

Thank you all as we have a long road in front of us.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I feel your pain for Ollie. I was not an only child, there was a dachshund at our home when I arrived. Jonathan Hanna was a year old when I was born in '47. Grew up and loved him as he always slept in my room and followed me everywhere. Zwei and then Tarzan were the next two dachshunds that were my loyal brothers.
Ollie's ordeal really got to me.
Go Ollie!

Thank you everyone. Your and our prayers have been answered. He’s home now and comfortably resting. The neurologist believes he’ll be able to walk a few steps to her when we have our follow up in 4 weeks.

Between the videos I took and the written instructions we will be doing his PT. He can’t stand on his own, does have rear leg but no front leg movement. He can sit up, think egypts Sphinx, and we need to move him every few hours so he doesn’t get the dog equivalent of human bed sores.

I’ll keep you up to date and thanks again!!!!

Poor doggie. Kindness to and caring for animals is one of the noblest aspects of human nature.

And when our pets get to the end, we can take comfort that we gave them the best life we could.

So good to see him home. Pete had his run in with the vet a few weeks ago, and he's doing great now. Here's to Ollie making a similar speedy recovery!
