Prayers for you and Ollie. Keep him still outside of his PT- no jumping (I know it’s really hard, especially with those big, dark, beseeching eyes)….

Today’s update…

Ollie is not in as much pain but still is not ambulatory. Apparently he ate dinner tonight so they were very happy with that.

We’re hoping he’ll be able to move his legs tomorrow Smile

Don't rush things. A spinal operation is serious.

Todays update.

The vet said he’s moving his rear legs more (no movement yet with his front legs), he is continent, on oral pain pills vs fentanyl IV, and eating well.

She added every dogs recovery from a spinal cord injury is different. However she feels he is on the lower middle side to getting back to normal.

They’re hoping to release him back to us this weekend. Fingers crossed.

UPDATE:

Just spoke to the vet. She said Ollie is in more pain today than the past few days. They believe he has a clot at the surgical site, a different portion of the remaining 2/3 of the disc they left is now pressing the nerve, or, ..?

They plan to do another MRI. He is 3rd in line so the next phone call from them will be sometime between 12-3pm today.

If he needs another surgery I don't know what we will do. We've already hit $7k and their original estimate was $6k-8k.

Please say a prayer for both Ollie and us - thanks.

UPDATE #2 TODAY

The MRI showed part of the disc they left had herniated into the nerve. She said there are a number of employees there who are pulling for him and they agreed to address this new development for only $100.

I gave her the green light and thank you God for your help.

Below are pics of him taken at the Vet School yesterday:

UPDATE #3

Vet called and said surgery went well. They removed the other portion that was poking in towards the spinal column and put a plug in the area to replace what they removed.

The plug is supposed to keep the two vertebrae apart from one another so we don’t get more nerve impingements.

Thank you all for your continued support!

They told us he is feeling better this morning. Still no front leg movement but he did wag his tail.

My guess is the recovery starts all over again since they had to redo the first surgery.

Just feel so sorry for our fur baby.
