Yes, Texas has brought up secession a number of times in the past. Today is not the past. We live in different times now. 20 years ago, could you have predicted that a political party using lies and fraud to cheat in an election, upfront, out in the open, and the entire MSM in cahoots? Or a political party sanctioning mayhem and violence and riots in large cities, ordering police to stand down? These are different times. Yes. These are different times. The Supreme Court has a chance to do the right thing and stop this. But if they don't... a division of the country becomes nearly inevitable. The only alternative would be for them to eliminate us, or for us to eliminate them. If you look at the entire country, from a political perspective, red and blue, it looks like this: In other words, most of the territory is red. We are spread out. They are concentrated. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

If any state secedes, there will be war. If there's going to be a war anyway, Texas and like-minded states might as well take over the whole shebang. Fuck wasting time on secession. There's no reason to leave anything to the liberal totalitarians.

Wouldn't it be easier for the commies to leave the United States? Oh wait, they hate this country but love the benefits of living here. If we just gave places like L.A., Chicago, NY/NJ, Seattle, Portland and Austin to china then we'd be much better off. _____________

Whoever controls the Federal Government, meaning controls the armed forces, will win the war. This isn't 1863.

Exactly. The fuckin' Democrat commies love European Socialism and all that is Europe, and hate everything about America. They ALL should get the fuck out of OUR country. I wouldn’t give the Left the satisfaction of threatening to leave. What chills their bones is a resolve to defend the principles of liberty with our very lives and fortunes. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

If Texas leaves, the rest of the country will be left with not chance to escape full on socialist rule. It would be better to eject California, and not even the whole state, just the strip along the coast between LA and just north of SF. With all that left wing population removed, the rest of the country would be much more conservative.

As someone who lives in the middle of that strip, I’d object to that plan. There are conservative areas, even on/near the coast.

If one state could make that work - it would be Texas. During the Civil War it was widely known amongst the Confederacy that if they were victorious in breaking away from the Union, Texas would secede from the Confederate States and establish itself as an independent nation.

Texas is the one state could make it work... but it would make much more sense both for Texas and for the Red middle of the country to go with Texas. I also think the upper midwest, IL, MI, WI, MN would go with the middle of the country. The division would be three countries: Left coast, east coast, and middle. "Some things are apparent. How do we get conservatives to move en masse to ca and turn the state red. Physically a nice place to live.... "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

What happens when executive orders supersede the Constitution? We might find out next year (not that such hasn't already happened). "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944

"My era" of history is 100 or so years before our Civil War, so maybe somebody who IS a Civil War guy can answer: Wasn't one of the Union Army's big issues, early on, the "drain" of officer corps talent that came about when Southern officers-- a sizeable portion of the Army-- went with the CSA? I have to wonder how the modern armed forces will feel about putting down a 21st-century war of secession, and whether we'd see a similar level of defection today.
