‘She’s A Doctor Of Education, Which Means Basically Nothing’: Tucker Carlson Pans Biden Family’s ‘Deep Class Insecurity’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson poked fun at the blowback received by The Wall Street Journal after columnist Joseph Epstein suggested in an op-ed that she stop using the prefix “doctor.”

Epstein’s piece, titled “Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if You Need an M.D.,” argued that since relaxed standards have eroded the credential, it no longer carries the prestige it once had. While it was roundly panned by Democrats and media figures as a “sexist attack,” Wall Street Journal editor Paul Gigot defended the op-ed and called the attacks “coordinated.”

“Don’t ask for advice on your coronary artery disease, because she’s not actually a physician, she’s a doctor of education which means basically nothing,” Carlson said during a Monday night “Tucker Carlson Tonight” segment after playing a clip of “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg in March calling for Mrs. Biden to become Surgeon General before realizing she wasn’t a medical doctor.

“Jill Biden is not a doctor,” Carlson continued. “No. Maybe in the same sense Dr. Pepper is. In 2007 at the age of 55 she got a doctorate in education. So, she’s got the same degree as Dr. Bill Cosby.”

Carlson went on to quote Jill Biden explaining in 2009 that she earned her doctorate because she wanted mail to be “addressed to Dr. and Senator Biden.”

“In other words, Jill Biden was diagnosed with a very bad case of status anxiety, and she decided to cure that as so many do in our country with another pointless title,” he said before describing several instances of pushback against Epstein.

“But for all the performative outrage none of this is new. For years we have known about the Bidens, that they have deep class insecurity,” Carlson said.

The Fox News host then played a clip from 1988 of Biden presumably on the campaign trail telling someone he has a “much higher IQ” than the person he was talking to because he “ended up in the top half” of his law school class.

“What’s so hilarious is how unbelievably touchy they are,” Carlson later told guest Lisa Boothe during a conversation on the topic. “They have no sense of humor about this. It’s like going up to a Panamanian general and asking where all those medals came from. You win a lot of battles, really? No, because they are self-awarded … Nobody cares about Dr. Jill, this is a threat to their entire system of credentialism.”

Just another coordinated effort by the left to further their campaign of professional outrage. Of course she's not a real doctor, and everybody knows any PhD/Ed.D who insists on being called "Doctor" has delusions of grandeur or insecurity issues.

An EdD is the most watered down doctorate that exists and was invented SOLELY to give public school teachers and administrators an easy "doctorate" to move up the payscale and put "Dr." on their nameplate.

It is not a PhD, it not even close to a PhD. Doesn't take nearly the time, work, or original research as a PhD.

It is just another example of our public education system gaming the rules to extract more money from the taxpayers with nothing to show for it in return.

No other discipline in the world has an equivalent to the EdD. None. Think about that.

As someone who has a PhD (in a humanities field), yeah, the EdD is squat.

In the pecking order, the EdD is slightly more useful than a gender studies PhD, but more worthless than a philosophy PhD, if that tells you how much bupkis it is. All three, however, will repeatedly cite Derrida, though.

(And, no, I don't introduce myself as doctor, though my colleagues and students sometimes do, but I have no shits to give about the title.)

My cousin has an EdD, works for some small public school district, and is totally insufferable. Like Biden's wife, she refers to herself as "Doctor". The first time I heard it, I almost laughed out loud.

I know a Pharmacist who insists on being called Doctor.

Turns out that nowadays pretty much every Pharmacist graduates with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. Yeah, they're smart in Chemistry and Math. That's impressive. They worked long and hard to earn it. I know some who can barely speak to the public let alone lead a shift, but they're brilliant is a very useful way.

So, by Oklahoma Law, when the phone rings in the pharmacy, whoever answers the phone must state their name and position. Those 2 choices are Hi, Joe Pharmacy Tech speaking or Jane Pharmacist speaking.

This one pompous schmuck always answers the phone Hi this is Dr Joe Schmuck.

Doctors and their assistants calling in prescriptions get high priority when the phone rings. I've hear Dr Scmuck Pharmacist begin to stutter and turn red when he is talking to a Physician or someone from the State Pharmacy Board.

I personally know some education phd's in california. They get a whole heckuva lot more money especially in retirement, especially if they become vice principal or principal. They certainly aren't worth it, but due to their unions and the california teachers union, it inflates their ego and their bank accounts.

There is little more sanctimonious and pathetic than arguing the relative worth of a graduate degree. The ultimate in stupidity is attempting to belittle over higher education. It’s a legitimate, accredited doctorate degree, kids.

To suggest a doctorate ought not be recognized, or the title in unaccepted because it is not a medical doctorate, is to proudly wear an “I’m a fucking idiot” tattoo on one’s forehead, then loudly announce it to the world.

We had a police sergeant who was getting his doctorate from the University of Phoenix online....the guy couldn’t string together a coherent sentence, much less tell ten cops what to do for their daily assignments (we always worked the same beat) ....we all joked and called him the “Doctor Sergeant”

He’s still an idiot. And was only promoted because of his melanin levels....(box checker bureaucracy)...the block of broken concrete we used to prop open the back door had more purpose that’s this guy....and was probably smarter than him...he once printed his thesis on the work printer...it printed on every police printer at the department....1000 pages of unintelligible gibberish...they even sent an email to all city employees not to use city printers for their college work....dude never figured it out..

My wife's cousin has his undergrad, Master's and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. A very good school. He's a smart dude, but lacks common sense. His father constantly refers to his son as Dr. I've called him out on it once or twice and he gets all bent out of shape. Funny thing is, his son doesn't even refer to himself as a Dr.

I tried to explain to his father that calling him Dr. in an academic setting is perfectly appropriate, but I will not be calling him Dr when he comes over.
