Little ray of sunshine |
It isn't really a clusterfuck when the activity is inherently that dangerous. Some years are worse than others, but there is always a significant chance of dying. Whether it makes any sense to participate is a different question. But everyone up there is up there of their own volition. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Knows too little about too much |
I've known three physicians who were everest-a-holics. One died, two paid heavy prices for their "avocation". It simply makes no sense to risk your life in that manner. Oops, sorry Para. I thought the purely explicit words were the ones disallowed. I just modified the title.

Yeah...I'll do Ride the Rockies where you ride up to a 100 miles a day up over mountains in Colorado for 7 days. But anything where you are climbing through the "Death Zone" - I'm out...so, so out. ...that I will support and defend...

Just for the hell of it |
Mount Everest will always be dangerous. Because it's the biggest mountain it gets headlines more so then others major peaks. It also get more deaths because you have so many people who really shouldn't be there trying to climb it just to say they can. Have $80,000 to throw around, do some training, pay a guide service and you can make a attempt at the summit. There are many other much more challenging climbs for true mountaineers. Here's a trailer for a short film of three world class climbers. This message has been edited. At least they died doing what they loved - drawing to an inside straight with their lives in the pot.... "And gentlemen in England now abed, shall think themselves accursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks that fought with us upon Saint Crispin's Day"

I was trying to find picture the other day of what it looks like now. I think the danger(deaths) and there is a backup because it's takes longer to navigate. Although who knows what it's really like up there now. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Corgis Rock |
Reportedly, the step is intact. There's a large amount of snow on it and climbers on another route thought it was gone. There's been a ladder placed there for years. I watched a video where there was a solid line of climbers and one was stuck, unable to move. Think others started climbing over him. https://www.theguardian.com/wo...ay-nepalese-climbers “ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.

I'll use the Red Key |
I understand the attraction and desire, and am ok with people that want to do this. It's dangerous, with little room for error. If you make it, high five. If you die it was your choice. Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

This. K2 requires real mountaineering and climbing experience. Your not paying your way to the summit. K2 would destroy most of the people that summit Everest. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. No double standards |
That is my understanding as well. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944
