I'm with you and totally disagree with OP's original premise.

Yeah, the "new normal" is NOT MY NORMAL.

And BTW, My wife and I went to one of our favorite restaurants in Ft Worth Saturday, and we did not wear masks to our table, neither did the other patrons. I was in my Home Depot today and no employee was wearing one, or any gloves. Only a few customers were wearing cloth masks.

It seems that the new normal will be wearing a face mask when you want to go shopping and even to walk to your table in restaurant.

I want to purchase some washable ones, but I am suffering from Paralysis by Analysis seeing all the ones available. If you purchased ones that you liked which ones were they.

Let's not get into the discussion of yeas and nays. Thanks.

Yeah, it's amazing when the internet knows you're looking for something. I clicked on a few (mostly IG). to check out the payment interface etc. Not handy enough with the sewing machine not wanting to deal with a bodged attempt, I found Maskculture and got a couple. Feel like woman's underwear on my face. I don't mind covering my ugly mug to keep the karen's away. Wait till the shemagh is the next fashion trend.

My state (PA) has mandated them at all stores, and my employer actually recently announced they are requiring them in all their facilities regardless of state mandate or not.

I tried an N95 for one day and felt like I was half suffocating in it.

Got this one on eBay for $10 and it’s pretty comfortable and easy to get on and off:

  • Kryptek's Courtesy Mask. Ordered April 25th, but it has not shipped yet.
  • Update:
  • my South Korean masks arrived yesterday. I'm pleased with the quality.

Just curious if your employer offered to purchase masks for their employees?

Someone told me women’s underwear material makes a good mask? I haven’t seen any yet?

I like that bat mobile mask a few pages back, yellow & black. That’s my style.

Who'd have thought that the face mask industry would have ever seen growth like this, from real industrial to start ups and pinterest...

True capitalism, I guess some will say they didn't make that, the government made it, since it took totataliarism from the government to force mask wearing in public... but I digress,

My neighbors son is buying up sprayers used for cleaning and sanitizing. Apparently up in the NE they are in high demand and few and far between, He's shipping 20 to 30 a day out UPS to places Like Boston U, etc...

So the rule is you have to wear a mask, wonder if there are specifics on coverage, size, material, etc. If not, maybe one of these is needed, heck it's a mask right?...

If that material works well, just get a pair of your wife or girlfriend's panties and wear them over your face Big Grin

They have been handing out surgical masks at the entrances, after you get temp scanned, but my business unit just issued everyone a cloth one with company logo and the goofy business unit motto “We Do Space” and they look ridiculous. I will not wear it, I’ll keep wearing the camo one for the one day per week I now go into a physical location.

That’s the thing, I’ve seen plenty of signs to wear masks...none have ever said the masks had to cover anything specific.

In regard to material, people are using whatever useless random shit they have around their house just to be able to gain entry into stores.

  • Update #2:
My Kryptek masks arrived yesteday. Good quality, and the typhon camo is subtle (I prefer subtle). Two unexpected minor things:
  • they sent shipping notification about 3 hours AFTER it arrived at my house.
  • the filter pocket is open mesh. Basically, it's a very tight fabric camo exterior, same tight fabric middle layer (it's white), and then mesh filter pocket.

Only wore the S. Korean and Kryptek masks about 5 min and so far prefer the Kryptek. Not wild about wearing masks, but they'll be required when I return to the office in 1.5 weeks.
