Well, at least Disco is still dead this time. Wink Ref: the guy in the Super Duty filling up a tank; he could be a farmer or landscaper getting what he can. I'd planned to go down home to NC before Memorial Day, looks like the situation for fuel will need monitoring.

The northeast corner of Tennessee, where I am, is seeing some problems. I have half a tank which would normally last me a week, but I thought it prudent to top it up. Unfortunately, the particular station was out of regular and mid-grade, only having premium ($3.55, regular there was $2.79) and diesel. So premium it was. My time is worth money too, so I didn't try any others. Other stations I passed going home had lines 7-8 cars deep. Which will thereby run out the supply even faster.

Tesla drivers? Good for them.

They had 93 Octane, but were out of everything else.

All week it will be an 8.3 liter roar of awesome!

(and hopefully no tickets). Wink

It was too easy after all the exchanges regarding EV vs ICE over the last number of months

Fell in the category of “I had to”

Anyone happen to travel on I-95 south of Virginia today? Wondering about the gas availability along the interstate.

$0.04/gal higher at my usual station here in N Houston. Every pump was taken, definitely busier than a typical Tuesday afternoon.

No problems here in Connecticut, guess we are just north enough to avoid it. No line, no waiting, all grades gasoline available. Doesn’t look like the north east will see an effect other than increase in price probably....at least for now

I drove from Northern VA to Richmond VA today and back. Every gas station had lines of cars out into the streets and the ones that didn't were dry. I barely made it home with 12mi to go in the tank.

Talked to my wife about it...she has a Tesla and was a bit smug but I reminded her she has to wait in the same line to get in the parking lot of a Sheetz to hit a Supercharger if that's the one she has planned. Tesla owners have seen the same delays at Superchargers during peak holiday season so the smugness is but a thin veneer.

The other half texted me earlier this evening and stated the lines around Durham are ridiculous.

She also stated that some of the stations are dry/closed.

The big question is: Will I have trouble locating gas when I leave Friday to head back to Durham for my five days off.

My son's stationed at Fort Bragg. He said all the gas stations on base are out of fuel and so are a bunch just outside the base.

Chowser:

I am supposed to head back because I have drill this weekend at Fort Bragg.

This will be the first in person drill since last February I believe.

I foresee a lot of people not coming because they live all over the south and east coast.

If I don't go back I am going to work OT for a little extra CCW money.

This according to the company tonight. You'll note the absence of any anticipated system restart by the end of this week or even this weekend as prior statements had indicated. Link

A. They deserved it for not adequately planning for it.
B. They're going to continue making attempts to restore their systems, but will fail to gain anything close to full system capacity. They'll relent and pay the ransom. But by then and after all their tinkering the data will be even more corrupt.
C. The let the feds in. How many times do I have to tell you not to let them in unless the building is on fire?

Media Statement Update: Colonial Pipeline System Disruption
Tuesday, May 11, 5:15 p.m.

Colonial Pipeline continues to make forward progress in our around-the-clock efforts to return our system to service, with additional laterals operating manually to deliver existing inventories to markets along the pipeline. Markets experiencing supply constraints and/or not serviced by other fuel delivery systems are being prioritized. We are collaborating with the Department of Energy (DOE) to evaluate market conditions to support this prioritization.

Since our pipeline system was taken offline, working with our shippers, Colonial has delivered approximately 967,000 barrels (~41 million gallons) to various delivery points along our system. This includes delivery into the following markets: Atlanta, Ga., Belton and Spartanburg, S.C., Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C., Baltimore, Md., and Woodbury and Linden N.J.

Additionally, in preparation for our system restart, we have taken delivery of an additional 2 million barrels (~84 million gallons) from refineries for deployment upon restart.

Consistent with our safety policies and regulatory requirements, Colonial has increased aerial patrols of our pipeline right of way and deployed more than 50 personnel to walk and drive ~ 5,000 miles of pipeline each day.

Actions taken by the Federal Government to issue a temporary hours of service exemption for motor carriers and drivers transporting refined products across Colonial’s footprint and actions taken by several Governors to lift weight restrictions on tanker trucks should help alleviate local supply disruptions. This is in addition to the Reid Vapor Pressure wavier issued today by the U.S. EPA that will also help alleviate supply constraints in several states serviced by our system. We would like to thank the White House for their leadership and collaboration in resolving this matter as well as the DOE, PHMSA, FERC and other federal agencies for their ongoing support.

Our primary focus remains the safe and efficient restoration of service to our pipeline system, while minimizing disruption to our customers and all those who rely on Colonial Pipeline. We will continue to provide updates as restoration efforts progress.

Many stations in Huntsville went dry today....except diesel fuel (which was also cheaper - note to self).

Wife and I drove down the road to a small town down the state highway after work to fill up our three vehicles and the cars were starting to cue up there too.

Hopefully they’ll get the pipes running soon. Until the we are rationing our driving.

It appears that some stations here in DFW are taking the opportunity to raise prices. I filled up my truck with diesel Sunday at $2.50 a gallon. Yesterday the same station was $2.89.
