Just this very evening, I notice that the local BBQ joint where I grabbed take-out included some mega-packets of Heinz.

Heinz used to be my go to ketchup but lately I have looking for something else. The taste to me is different (less tomato taste I think) and it's been runnier than before.

I'll look for some of the ones mentioned here.

I worked at a place during HS where the owner would have the waitstaff fill the glass Heinz table bottles from a #10 can (the big commercial size can) of generic ketchup.

I suppose that I am not a ketchup connoisseur. I could probably notice a difference in a side by side taste test. But otherwise, I am not a discerning ketchup consumer. Too each his own!

My son and I often joke about the no name generic ketchups found in some restaurants. House Recipe for one example.

I’m a fan too, plus a local version sold only at a farmers market near me. It’s much less sticky and sickly sweet than store bought.

I actually prefer a cheap no name ketchup.

Give me the cheapest shit you can find, I'll like it better than the name brand stuff.

I try to buy stuff that uses real sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup for my kids, when I can.

I am fine with cheap ketchup. I don't use it much and when I buy it, generic is fine for me.

I can’t say I typically notice the difference in various ketchup, but we buy the stuff sweetened with honey.

If that wasn’t available, we’d choose sugar over corn syrup.

Only Heinz for me. Everything else tastes like it has twice the HFCS.

No kidding.

As for me, I’m not super picky, but I tend to avoid high fructose corn syrup in foods and I prefer my ketchup savory and not sweet. Bear’s Breath is pretty damn good - a little zip to it.

I notice a difference in taste between Heinz and Hunts, Heinz being better. I never checked the ingredients though and didn't realize it has HFCS in it. I think I'll look for the French's next time. It might be a while before that happens though. Like some others I generally only use it on meatloaf and fried egg sandwiches, and last time I bought it it was the big 3-pack from Costco.

I did see a "Portland" brand of ketchup recently and bought a bottle of it just to try out for the hell of it. It was OK but a little overpriced IIRC. I didn't check but I assume it's a local thing.
