Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said past comments from her former chief of staff were “divisive” during an interview Wednesday. “I think it was divisive. I believe in criticizing stances, but I don’t believe in specifically targeting members,” Ocasio-Cortez said of Saikat Chakrabarti during an interview with the New York Daily News. Her comments come after Chakrabarti resigned following his public criticism of moderate Democrats last month as they argued over policy with the more progressive members of the party. In one instance, Chakrabarti described centrist Democrats as “new Southern Democrats” for blocking a liberal-backed emergency border bill, Fox News reported. They “certainly seem hell bent [sic] to do to black and brown people today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s,” the now-deleted tweet read. Ocasio-Cortez said after he wrote it, her office had a conversation and Chakrabarti immediately took the tweet down. Following his resignation on August 2, federal officials are now probing Chakrabarti for possible campaign finance wrongdoing. The two political action committees being investigated are the Brand New Congress and the Justice Democrats, both of which were created by Chakrabarti to aid progressive candidates all over the country. “But they funneled more than $1 million in political donations into two private companies that Chakrabarti also incorporated and controlled, according to Federal Election Commission filings and a complaint filed in March with the regulatory agency,” the New York Post reported. On August 4, Breitbart News reported that Chakrabarti would move on to work with New Consensus, a nonprofit group seeking to bolster the Green New Deal. However, Chakrabarti reportedly admitted on July 10 that the Green New Deal was not originally about climate change . “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” he said. “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” and that's the ground truth at the heart of "climate change" When the Green New Deal was released in February, Joel B. Pollak of Breitbart News called it “pure socialism,” adding that it was “a document worthy of a 19th-century communist manifesto.” “It presents claims unsupported by scientific evidence; makes demands for every benefit imaginable; and has no idea how to build or pay for any of it,” he concluded. | |||

Does she not realize it works both ways? Yeah Montana and North Dakota electoral votes are chosen by a higher than average amount of white people. Conversely Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, and Alabama as well as others all have well over the average percentage black people determining electoral votes. That's the freaking point, no collection of any block of voters gets an unfair advantage. There are many, many states where the black vote is overrepresented, what are you willing to change about our government to correct this injustice? Heck the largest state in the United States also has the second largest minority (over 60%). Are you trying to silence the majority, minority states? Hey genius, do you realize you are a member of a bicameral legislature that chooses it's representatives by the exact same formula as the electoral college? Care to venture why? Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., vowed Saturday to contribute to a fund that is raising bail money for the 36 counter-protesters arrested at the “Straight Pride Parade" in Boston. Nine of the counter-protesters arrested have been charged with assaulting police officers , the Boston Herald reported. Ocasio-Cortez and Pressley both tweeted out a link to a crowdsourcing page called The Solidarity Against Hate Legal Defense Fund, which has raised nearly $25,000 to pay bail and other legal fees of those arrested while protesting the march. “One way to support the local LGBTQ community impacted by Boston’s white supremacist parade?” Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter, sharing a link to the fund. “Contribute to the Bail Fund for the activists who put themselves on the line protecting the Boston community.” Ocasio-Cortez retweeted Pressley’s initial tweet about the fund. Pressley slammed the “Straight Pride” event as an “#LGBT hate march” and asked followers to join her in making a contribution to the fund. About 200 people marched in the “Straight Pride Parade” in downtown Boston on Saturday to celebrate traditional families and defend heterosexuality, the Boston Globe reported. Members of Super Happy Fun America, the group that organized the parade, were reportedly outnumbered along the parade route by thousands of protesters gathered behind police barricades near City Hall who criticized the event as homophobic. At least some of the counter-protesters were identified as Antifa, the controversial far-left group. “We’re covered in black so when we attack these guys we can’t be prosecuted,” Jon Crowley, a self-identified Antifa member, told the Boston Herald while at Saturday’s parade. He added that he believes violence is the only way deal with the “Straight Pride” marchers, saying: “They are fascists, 100%. How else are you going to get them to shut up?” A Massachusetts state senator, Dean Tran, who represents Fitchburg, Mass., tweeted Monday that “It is time, federal, state, and local to make it illegal to cover your faces in public events and demonstrations. A danger to public safety and our police officers. No one or group is above the law.” The Solidarity Against Hate Legal Defense Fund was set up on the crowdsourcing site FundRazr by Lucy Parsons Center, a nonprofit independent bookstore and community center in Boston.
