I'm in the "recklessly discharged his pistol towards someone's home" camp. No way he had any clue where those bullets would impact. You can talk all day about trajectories and calculations but physics is still physics and once that projectile makes ANY contact with something during flight all bets are off on where it's heading.

There was also the cop who initiated the shooting (from the other body cam videos) who was running up behind the dead guy in the line of fire from Rambo shooting through his windshield.

But hey, it looked cool, and now he's internet famous so, there's that.... Roll Eyes

Cool story, bro. Range rules apply to gunfights. Neat concept. We need to let all the other apostrophe’d and De/LeWhateverJays know so they play by the rules of the range also.

What’s he supposed to do? Use harsh language?

Not only apply but become infinitely more important.
If your family was in the house behind this guy you'd be OK with the officers firing indiscriminately into it?
I'm all about cops taking out the trash and keeping each other safe but not at the expense of the people they are supposed to serve and protect.

For those wanting to get a better idea of the distance, look at the videos someone posted a few pages back that show other officers body camera views. Those were the guys that appear to have actually hit the guy and were much closer than the guy shooting from the car.

After the shooting they are walking around the scene so you get a better perspective.
Looks to me that 50 ft. is on the low end and more like 100 ft. or more.

Also the guys on foot were maybe 10-15 ft. from the deceased and were lucky not to catch a stray bullet from the cowboy cop.

A few years ago a neighboring PD tried to ram a guy who started shooting at them. The officer returned fire through his windshield and killed the guy.

Years before that we actually brought junk cars to our outdoor range and had everyone practice shooting out of the windshield and side windows.

The perp is from my hometown and I went to school with his grandpa, who was a good guy. Star high school basketball player and then retired from the local police dept. Dead about 10 years now. The thug's dad is a ne'er-do-well radical minor politician and you can see the job he did raising his son. Frown

Good shoot. I wonder how a windshield effects the ballistics? It ain't wrong if it works.

Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

I was raised by two cops. Both had to shoot. I was once in a townhouse that took bullets from a shooting across the street, literally caught napping while my newly pregnant wife, carrying our first unborn son, was downstairs. The only thing I could do was have her get in a closet on the far end of the house and call 911 wile I kept watch. There was a thread about it, and another forum member was the dispatcher on that call, who may or may not have already posted in this thread. Believe me, I'm totally ok with what I see in these bodycam videos.

This is Derby Week here in the “16th Largest City in God Bless ‘Merica”. Look for the BLM folks to be out in force since the national news media are here, and as another member has stated we’ve had three police-involved shootings over last month. Thursday’s Pegasus Parade could be interesting, as we had a couple of the little shits do a shooting along the parade route a few years ago.

We have a DemoCrap Mayor who is running for re-election in November, that is if he can win against a challenger. After 50 years of continuous DemoCrap rule and mis-rule, folks are getting fed-up with the status quo.

Based on your experiences I can respect where you're coming from even though I'd like to see more care given to the innocent bystanders.

I would wager his skills are better than average. The speed and smoothness with which the weapon was presented, assuming from s duty holster, while seated in the drivers seat of a cruiser, is very telling. The lack of hesitation is telling. The confidence exuded is telling.

I train cops to shoot too. Many have hard times removing their guns from their holsters while standing while at the range.

My thought when I saw this video?”this offficer knows what he is about”. I would wager he knew his capabilities and acted within that known envelope and will certainly give him the benefit of doubt while the investigation goes on.

Up with .40 caliber Glocks I can tell you that the procedure itself is quite accurate. I’m a state certified STOPS instructor and spend a bunch of time watching officers shoot up cars with Glocks.

So from inside the car, rounds angle up slightly. From outside to inside, do the rounds angle down or up? Is 9mm similar to .40? From what I read, Gold Dot is affected less and more consistant, that most other defensive ammo.
