You know what I'm NOT seeing today?

People on the Right being gleeful about his death and celebrating with posts and memes on social media like I saw all over with leftists with Charlie Kirk including unfortunately the husband of one of my cousins who REVELED in Kirk's death.

WE ARE NOT LIKE THEM

When I lived in Portland my BIL was a firefighter there. He's retired now, but he told me once that whenever the paramedics are dispatched they send a truck along as well. Mainly just to have additional manpower on hand in case it's needed. He also said that something like 80% of the FD calls are medical in nature, as opposed to actual fires.

This.

I will not celebrate the death of a man simply because I disagreed with him about politics. I will not follow the vile example set by the left after the killing of Charlie Kirk. It is possible to disagree without dehumanizing your opponent and it is possible to fight for your beliefs without hatred.

Obviously, Charlie's death was a political assassination and Reiner's was a family tragedy; and in that they differ. It's understandable that we feel a level of anger about Charlie being taken from us which doesn't apply in the case of Reiner.

I hope that the loudest voices on the right don't take the opportunity to crow about Reiner's death.

I pray for his family and that Almighty God will receive him and his wife into the world to come.

WE ARE NOT LIKE THEM.

"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

Alfred Hornik, Sunday, December 2, 1945 to his family, on his continuing duty to others for surviving WW II.

I lost a very good friend this way. One of his sons has schizophrenia and the parents tried to let him live at home. He shot his dad point-blank in the chest as the dad was trying talk him down. My friend was a former law-enforcement officer.

You are right. Never, never, never let your guard down. He's your son and you love him dearly, but sometimes he is not there.

I had just finished watching Spinal Tap 2 when I heard the news.

Was no fan of his politics, but I did like his directing.

I don't celebrate his death.

I passed out in a cajun place here in Colorado - gave blood that afternoon and didn't get hydrated. So I crashed. Wife kept my face from splatting into the gumbo. Paramedics and firetruck responded. They asked if I could walk out on my own, I would have combat crawled if I could, but I wasn't able. They needed the firemen to help with the gurney. It wasn't a fun experience, but the guys were real pro's.

Rob Reiner was a truly gifted filmmaker. He was also a complete, drooling moron with regard to economics, foreign policy, domestic policy and military policy.

Unfortunately, the craft in which he excelled brought him accolades, fortune and a hubris that made him feel entitled to publicly comment on the above subjects, repeatedly. Subjects in which he was lacking an aptitude, or any desire to understand.

Sadly, he let this hubris spill over into, and taint, movies like "A New Good Men". He is also responsible for pushing his visibly frail father into a 2020 political commercial against President Trump, where he directed Carl Reiner to call President Trump an enemy of the United States and compare him to the Axis Powers of WWII. He wasn't satisfied to state his positions, that would have been okay with me. As most on the Left do, he could only demonize conservative and mainstream America for not agreeing with his communist ideals.

Of course he decried Free Market economics and the foundations of this country even as he lived a life saturated in the benefits of capitalism. Meathead, indeed.

Reiner was a great example of the fact that God makes us smart in different ways. He is also a great example of how arrogance and stupidity can look an awful lot alike.

Yeah... I don't take advice from actors or athletes.

Shut up and dribble!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Thanks for posting this.

A tweet from the link, the son, from the accounts I have read today, including some from him, paint a very disturbing picture of his upbringing.

While dad was a gregarious and accommodating guy professionally (I've read many people in industry say he was unfailingly nice), he was also a highly opinionated and sanctimonious SOB who's own domestic life was likely a disaster.

Met plenty of guys in the military and private industry who you thought were squared-away given their position, rank and achievements, come to find out or, meet the family that their home life is nothing like their 'work life'. We had a sales dinner once at the president of the company I was working for, it was a sizable group of about 20 so a dinner party. While this guy's house was quite nice, the kids were spoiled shits or didn't pay attention to him, and his wife if she wasn't ruling the roost, was probably popping-pills in-between scolding and shooting pointed comments to him.

The left is all upset about President Trump's social media post regarding Rob Reiner, even though he spoke the truth. You can bet that if it had been President Trump that had died, Rob Reiner would not be nearly as kind.

And they're upset that he didn't flip the coin to their liking at the Army-Navy game. Let's face it, they are still upset he's even here with us.

I agree that is a very good, very kind statement. I want to believe it is sincere. At the same time, he seems blissfully unaware of his role in helping to foment a mindset that makes political assassinations acceptable in the minds of the Left. Reiner has called President Trump an enemy of the United States and compared him to the Axis Powers of WWII.

Reiner was either evil, or a clueless dumbass.
