He made good movies and played an archetype character on All in the Family. I think I liked every movie listed plus a couple others: Spinal Tap Spinal Tap II The Sure Thing The Princess Bride Stand By Me When Harry Met Sally A Few Good Men Misery But I see today the stereotypical "military bad, young lawyers good" attitude of Hollywood in a Few Good Men. The others are all non-political and just entertaining. I try to separate politics from entertainers, unless the actual movie or show is overtly political. Most entertainers lean left, just the nature of things I guess. I consider it a bonus when our politics align. I liked Carl Reiner better though. I don't remember him talking politics, which is how it should be. He died in 2020 so I'm glad he didn't have to see this. The kid was a drug addict and was homeless in the street for a while. He was in rehab many times starting relatively young like 15-16. Not sure what else was wrong with him. Sounds like he could be schizophrenic given the age he started having trouble. | |||

LAFD also runs the 911 ambulances. Depending on how the call came in, it's entirely possible it didn't come across on the 911 call as a murder. I've been to calls that came in as a fall or "sick person" and the person was dead. So it's not unreasonable to think that the same thing may have happened here. | |||

I know that in Texas, the law says if they send an ambulance, they send a fire truck (and vice versa). Not sure about the rest of the country. He was another Hollywood guy where I would consider any film that he was associated with because he was talented and a pretty funny guy. Though in recent decades I potentially had to pinch my nose closed to avoid his BS. Rob Reiner was further left than many of them out there, unfortunately. | |||

Rob Reiner always reminded me of my dad. Very smart, very funny, very liberal, and very sure of himself. They even look similar. I disagreed with Reiner's politics, but one thing I did like about him was that he was willing to have a conversation about things that he disagreed with you on. We need more conversations right now. Two things- the supposed murderer, the son, minimizes the conspiracy theories to a great degree, although the loons of the world (and the click-hungry grifters) will still spew their insane bullshit, guaranteed. Secondly, I am certain that many of the gun-grabbing leftists are secretly upset that a firearm was not used. Better luck next time. The left expects us to celebrate, as they did gleefully with Charlie Kirk. My suggestion- and it's only a suggestion- is that we defy their expectations, for reasons which are obvious. You can say whatever you want, but... Yesterday, my wife and I put up our Christmas tree. We always have a movie playing while we do this. Usually, it's one of those sappy, entirely predictable Hallmark Christmas movies, so that my wife can enjoy- or perhaps endure- my pithy commentary. Sleepless in Seattle happened to be on, so we chose that. In this film, both Rosie O'Donnell and Rob Reiner have small parts and I commented that these are two of the most TDS-affected Hollywood people (along with DeNiro). I don't see anyone here slamming his work. My initial suspicion of home invasion (a huge problem in SoCal) took a dark turn, now his son seems to be a suspect. Years ago, I read about Reiner's troubles with his son, similar to Paul Newman's issues with his druggy son Scott who later committed suicide, but never paid attention to it. Hollywood is filled with these kinds of stories, seems to be almost a regular trait of celebrity families- self-absorbed parents high on fame, status and money, the kids become secondary, almost a burden. I was raised in soCal and have seen it in real time in high school; kids from well-to-do families who hate their parents, have endless money to spend on pot, LSD, coke, etc while doing poorly in school. The overly permissive parents letting their kids do basically anything they want, running roughshod, without repercussions. And little wonder these kids end up fucked up adults. And with Reiner in particular, the man was extremely involved in CA leftist policy making, inserting himself into the political process. Reiner had TDS to the far extreme, calling Trump a racist, a rapist, and of all things, an anti-semite. Like Rosie O'Donnell, he thought he was one of those that was going to be killed or deported. He was even developing a TV project recently called "The Spy and the Asset" about Trump and the leftists imaginary collusion with Putin. But it is interesting that the evil Orange Man has raised his children well, compared to many Hollywood parents. And also it is truly tragic for parents, any parents, to lose their lives at the hands of their own children, a horrible death. Ironic that Reiner stated that Trump and conservatives were going to threaten his life, but at the end, it was his own son who likely ended it. I agree. The man may have been way off base with TDS... but he was just killed by his own son, who I'm sure he loved. The son probably had open access to his home. The vast majority of the miles our local fire/rescue department puts on its trucks that (evidently) need replacing every few years are not in response to fires or rescues. But here anyway the firefighters are in far better shape and far more able to deal with certain patient situations than the ambulance crew.
