I don't know, but I'm starting with you.

I was buying a cope of Guns & Ammo at the magazine kiosk in Union Station, downtown Chicago, the girl behind the counter asked, "You tryna lurn howta keel?"

I responded, "I already know how to kill. I'm just staying in practice."

I actually spent a minute and politely educated him how people from my neighborhood use 500 rounds of ammunition (i.e. at the range shooting the center out of paper targets).

Maybe I'm desentisized. I think all anti-gun sayings are on the same level of stupid. They don't thik things through.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

My cousin in law (a true liberal who sucks down the kool aid from the left) informed me I was committing a felony because...

1. I reload (which he "knows" is illegal because the government can't track my ammo purchases)

2. I am in possession of "raw" lead (which he "knows" is illegal to have because it kills children just by touching it)

3. I have gunpowder (which he "knows" is illegal because it will level the neighborhood if it explodes)

He really believes he is right and argues with me that knows what he is talking about and I do not Roll Eyes ...

As far as stupid comments about guns...he has said that an AK47 can shoot down an airliner at cruising altitude...

He has told me each of these things...

Thankfully I don't see him very often Smile

I'd be disappointed. He sounds like a lot of fun!

Oh, hell no. Have you ever tried to have a conversation with these people? They use these made up "facts" to make their arguments. How the heck do you counter "an AK47 can shoot down an airliner at cruising altitude"?

Just tell me how you can have an discussion about math with someone who absolutely knows in their heart of hearts that 2+2=5, and then treats you like a moron when you tell them, no, actually it equals four? This is what I feel like if I try.

See my above remarks. It all starts with a stupid emotional premise and zero facts. This is the case for every anti. They can't get past "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". If you can get someone to understand that concept, then they *may* be reachable.

"Why don't the cops just shoot people in the leg"? From my stepmother when discussing a police officer shooting a mentally ill lady that had charged the officer with a knife.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

Or, "Why couldn't they just shoot the knife out of her hand?"

Not the stupidest, but a telling anecdote on the lack of basic firearms knowledge out there. I brought in the expended casing of a 7.62 x 39 round (recovered from the sidewalk in front of my apartment in San Francisco, moments after a drive-by shooting. 10 rounds in the air, probably just gangers blowing off steam.) That's a casing only, no bullet. I showed it to a co-worker, who then remarked, "That must really hurt when it enters a human body".

Not really clear on the concept of modern firearm cartridges. Of course, this same person thinks that someone should invent "bullet-proof hats" for all public figures vulnerable to assasination attempts.

One of my favorites is the filing down of a firing pin makes the gun full auto, and of course I never have a firing pin on hand to ask them where to start cutting.

Another pretty good one, was right after Sandy Hook when Michael Moore posted on his Twitter that the AR fires exploding bullets, like little bombs. I like to think he knows better, but he also knows the kind of people who take his word at gospel would believe it.

It was Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who said "’93 Million’ Americans Die Every Day from Guns".

If that were true, of course, it would take less than a week before the USA would have no live people.
