Told cops where to go for over 29 years…

Got my “pre-order” all set!

Alarm set for 0455, at 0500 all I should have to do is one click to submit order.

I decided on the 512gb 17 Pro Max in Deep Blue, usually prefer to go one step up from base on memory plus I am guessing the base 256gb model will have highest demand.

Will see if I am in the first batch to go out or not and when I will have it in hand.

Took a few tries but got in for a pair of 17 Pro's deep blue, 256, delivery on the 19th. Cost was $40 upgrade fee and sales tax.

Orange Pro ordered. 9/25 delivery.

Just got an email from Apple that they've advanced my delivery date to 9/18. Any of you guys get your date advanced?

Ordered 17 Pro Max 256GB Deep Blue. Shows delivery on the 25th, but not sure that’s true. A lot of people are seeing pickup at the Apple Store on the 19th but ship to home dates the 25th for the same exact phone. May be a glitch, may not be. If a glitch, it should resolve itself in a couple of days. If not, I have no problem waiting a week. Haven’t gotten an email confirmation either, although the order does show up in the app.

I stopped upgrading through the carrier many years ago. Didn’t want a locked phone held hostage by AT&T, and didn’t like that they went up to 3 years for the installment plan. Now go through Apple for an unlocked phone and only 2 years.

100%. I’ve never, ever, bought one of these things. Always either got it free (just the activation charge) or this typical $100 for tax. Like you said, I’m not leaving. I will in 3 years once this is done. I’m with ATT now but when I move to my rural land, VZ is king there, so we’ll have to switch carriers. 3 year bid will be up so VZ, I’m sure, will have the same shit over there like you stated. They all do the same trickery.

I upgraded all my shit this week so I can be done with all of it for 3 years. (Phone, watch, APP3’s) If my work didn’t require me to have one of these I wouldn’t. I told the ol’ lady, once we move I’m getting a cellular watch under her account, and upgrading my IPP to cellular under her account. I’ll pay her for both. And I’m going phone free. This is either my next to last, or last smartphone. That’s my only excitement for this. I hate the fucking things and what they have done to society. The latest watch now works off the satellite for emergencies as I do go places where there is no cell signal. It also does ALL the basic comms the phones do, and for my personal needs, renders the phone useless. If my work didn’t require one of these phones I would be done with them already. Such a hassle to maintain and IMO it’s become too important and dependent. A got damn phone shouldn’t be this important.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

We will be getting my wife a 17 , but not racing out at first chance. It will be more of a birthday or Christmas present since the aren’t too far apart.

She is fine with her 13, but I’m wanting the upgrade at this point so we can still get a little trade-in dough for her old phone. Also, we won’t need different charging cables anymore…a first world problem for sure.

I pre-ordered a dark blue 17 Pro through Verizon. Upgraded plan to Ultimate and added an AirPods Pro 3– so tempted by voice translation!

Although—as a decades long fan of Douglas Adams I remember the Babelfish.

We ordered an Iphone 17 pro max and a standard 17 today. Oddly enough any model of the iphone 16 was FULL price. I was shocked. That said, the 17 pro max will cost me about $2.27 for 36 months. Traded in our 11 and 13 to get the newest technology.

Guess I am getting one… Wife “needed” to replace her phone, but I g
Have been having zero problems with mine, so I told her go for it, but I’m good….

Then she looked it up and found out I have a iPhone 11… which is apparently like super bad. Like driving a rusty Ford Pinto (unironically).

So I am getting one, totally my choice, because I really want it, and not at all affected by any outside input whatsoever.

But it is at least going to match my non-appple watch!

I am on AT&T. I am needing to upgrade due to some issues with my 12 Pro Max. Battery is 70% and facial recognition is broken.

Unfortunately trade for anything below a 13 is limited to $350.

I ended up going to Walmart and buying a straight talk 13 for $199. Got the $1,100 trade for it. Just throwing this option out for those of you with ATT and older phones.

When I placed my order on Verizon’s site it showed delivery on the 19th. I had an email this morning showing a delivery on the 25th so mine’s in line with what others are seeing.

When I placed the order it said “Delivers by Sept 25th”.

Just checked my order on the Apple Store app and says it is processing and arrives Sept 19th by express delivery.

Woohoo!

I’m moving from the iPhone 16 Pro to the base iPhone 17. I’m looking for a device that isn’t quite as heavy and should have less issues with heating up. The upgrades to 256GB of base storage, the ProMotion display, and the resolution of the cameras make it easy for me to give up the telephoto lens of the Pro.

We (wife and I) usually stay a generation or two behind the latest and greatest. I have gotten a few good deals here on SIGforum, from folks who have upgraded and offered their current iPhones for sale, so I'll be watching the Classifieds for any that use USB-C instead of Lightning connector (iPhone 15 or 16).

I upgraded to the 16 last year and see no reason to upgrade. I've been doing every 3rd one (i.e. X, 13, and 16).

Question for international travelers. If you do an upgrade deal with Verizon, and now that that the phones are eSIM can you get a different eSIM when abroad or are you stuck with Verizon until the phone is paid off?

Latest email with tracking shows delivery on the 19th. I'm leaving Sunday for a work trip so I probably won't switch over till I get back.

If locked, you’ll have to use a “Verizon partner” for international and set it up through your Verizon account. The good news though is Verizon no longer keeps phones locked until payoff. They are only locked for 60 days and are then unlocked automatically as long as no report of fraud, theft, or loss.

I have one phone currently on a Verizon installment agreement, still a year to go but it is not locked.

You can check if the phone is carrier locked by going to Settings, General, About and then scroll down to “Carrier Lock” if unlocked it will say “No SIM restrictions”

”What is Verizon's device locking policy?
Beginning on 7/23/2019, devices purchased from Verizon are locked for 60 days from the date of purchase. This policy applies to new and existing customers and customers porting their service to another carrier. The device locking policy also applies to:

Devices purchased at full retail price or on a device payment agreement
Device purchased on a device payment agreement and paid off prior to the 60-day requirement
Verizon service canceled while device is locked
If you’re porting out service, your device remains locked until the 60-day requirement has been met”

They point out that this applies to phones “sold by Verizon or Verizon retail partner”. According to an internet search, if you buy from Apple using a carrier finance plan it will be locked to the carrier but should unlock after the 60 day period.

I just got a 16PM a few months ago after I backed over my old 15PM, I was holding out for the 17, but had no choice but to get a new one that day

I pulled up the Apple Store last Friday during preorder and it said I could order and pick one up on at the local store...I was thinking whoohoo. is this real?, once I got through all the prompts it pushed it out a couple weeks for pick up

Im happy currently, but the trade is $700 on the 16PM so out of pocket isn't extreme. I always buy out right. Knowing myself, the wind will blow the right direction and I'll end up with one before too long. Big Grin

I pre-ordered the exact same make / model as you. 512GB will be good, and I’m looking forward to the larger screen. I’ve had my iPhone 14 Pro for three years … longest I’ve ever kept one. I normally upgrade every two years.

I ordered through Verizon — took advantage of their $1,100 trade-in offer for my iPhone 14 Pro.

Says it’ll be here on Friday!

Thanks! I hadn't realized they changed that and I'm no longer in their eSIM lockout period.
