I feel it to be a very important point. By continuing to refer to leftists as "liberals" you give them cover for what they really are--which, these days, is more akin to fascism than liberalism. They haven't hijacked it so much as continued to label themselves as such long past the time when it was once true. Once-upon-a-time the American left was largely liberal. Sure, there was the more extreme left that was socialistic and, beyond that, the even more extreme left that was downright Marxist. But, the mainstream American left was, by-and-large, mostly liberal. There was even a time during which the American left's liberalism was largely self-consistent. Back on topic, the powers that be are defending the censorship of the stabbing perp's identity, saying they don't want to inflame heightened tension. No one is asking why there was tension in the first place. The question is as obvious as the answer and it's a subject that can't be discussed. The stabbing didn't heighten tension, there was a preexisting condition and everyone knows it.
