They indicted Comey a few days before the statute of limitations expired. So, by the time they get around to a deal, if that happens, I can't see anyone he rats out still being within the five year limit. Very unfortunate. Maybe they can still get Clapper and Brennan, maybe Lisa Monaco, but I'm sure they can't get McCabe. Sure would be poetic justice if they could threaten to go after Comey's daughter like they did for Gen. Flynn's son.

I've heard that if it is conspiracy then the normal statute of limitations doesn't apply. If there is evidence linking 2 or more people, it becomes a conspiracy.

I am hopeful still that many others will face justice.

Fmr Special Agent: Comey ‘Single-Handedly Started the Downfall and the Entire Destruction of the FBI’

During Tuesday’s broadcast of Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” former FBI special agent Nicole Parker criticized former FBI Director James Comey, who is seeking to have federal charges stemming from a two-count indictment dismissed.

Parker, also a Fox News contributor, said Comey had “politically and socially” weaponized the agency and blamed him for its “downfall” and “destruction.”

“A judge will soon review the grand jury materials in the case against Jim Comey,” Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo said. “They want to determine whether or not to give those materials to Comey’s legal team. The judge is urging DOJ prosecutors last week to do that, to give the materials over. The prosecutors appealed and suggested that the judge look over the materials first himself, Comey is pushing to get this case dismissed altogether. He’s facing two federal counts of making false statements to Congress and obstruction of a criminal proceeding. We know that he has pled not guilty here, but Nicole, he wants the whole case dismissed.”

“You know what, he’s very, very all about putting everything on to everybody else, but when it comes back to himself, he wants no responsibility or accountability,” Parker replied. “And you know what, James Comey, those days are over. As an FBI agent, I talk about the two. FBI’s. FBI one, where the good, honorable agents trying to do good work. FBI two was the FBI that was politically and socially weaponized like James Comey.”

“And you know what? There’s nothing more the FBI one would like to see than full accountability for James Comey, because he single-handedly started the downfall and the entire destruction of the FBI. And he needs to be held accountable. He needs to face real consequences, because he ruined our entire reputation,” she added.

There are many of the old school retired FBI agents who blame Comey for the downfall of the FBI. They are very upset with him for what he has done. I listen to a lot of talk radio and I hear them pretty frequently. There are also a couple of books written by retired FBI agents who express their extreme dislike of him as well.

A federal judge dismissed the indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The judge found that the appointment of interim US Attorney Lindsey Halligan in Alexandria, Virginia, was invalid. Trump handpicked Halligan for the role amid increasing pressure to bring criminal cases against his political enemies, including Comey and James.

Is there any recourse to appeal this ruling?

I have to tell you... I don't see how much longer this can go on without consequences for these judges, such as in the movie "Law Abiding Citizen".

Indict them again in a deep red state.

A few days ago Megyn Kelly had somebody on that said they could swap prosecutors and the indictments could stand.

I got to ask. Those who actually versed in the law, was Halligan appointment valid/legal or not?

If it was, then they can appeal.

If not, then why did Trump appoint her in the first place? If he made the decision with zero input from anyone, then it was obviously a huge mistake. Unless he just wanted to sabotage his own case, which I find unlikely. If it was made with recommendation from one of his staff knowing full well it would be torpedoed because it wasn’t legal, then the person is a deep state operative and needs to be given the boot. Then, appoint another US Attorney on firm legal ground.

If there is a high level deep state operative in the administration, I’ll point the finger at Todd Blanche, the Deputy US AG. Sure, he represented Trump in one of the NY cases, but this guy is a Dem through and through, and only changed party affiliation to GOP last year. He’s currently overseeing an investigation into Ed Martin and Bill Pulte. That should raise your red flag.

This article says the case was dismissed essentially on a technicality, without prejudice, i.e., it can be brought back when they get their shit together.

Yes, I know what the judge ruled, that Halligan appointment as US Attorney was unlawful. So, the case was tossed. But, how many times we’ve been through this this year, with all these Clinton or Obama or Biden appointed judges blocking Trump’s actions. Because. TDS. That’s why I want to know from someone wersed in the law looking at it objectively, was her appointment legal or not?

Halligan was appointed interim US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia by Pam Bondi (directed by Trump). This interim position needs no senate confirmation, and on the surface, there’s nothing unlawful about it. So, I want to know, did the judge say the appointment was unlawful because he has TDS, or is it some valid legal ground we’re not aware of that he based his ruling on.

ETA: Never mind. I did a quick little research and, imo, Trump screwed this up, and no one told him but simply went along. The US AG can only appoint interim US Attorney for a single 120-day term. Prior to Halligan, the interim US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was Erik Siebert, who was also appointed by Bondi for the 120-day term. So, it’s done. She cannot appoint a successive interim US Attorney for the same district. That job now is the district court’s responsibility. But after Siebert resigned in September, at the direction of Trump, Bondi, without questions, appointed another interim US Attorney in Halligan for 120 days, and that is not lawful. Fucking embarrassment. Roll Eyes

12131...

AND AGAIN, the fucking senate, their stupid rules, and their unwillingness to do their jobs are making it nearly impossible for the President to get his appointments through.

They can confirm 50+ people to do-nothing positions in 1 simple majority vote (as they have done a couple of times now), but dammit, this can be foiled by a dem holding up a blue note card and saying, "Stop, I have a colorful piece of magic paper!"

This is ridiculous.

I would say, "Shame on them", but they have no shame.

Where the hell is that alien meteor... wasn't that supposed to be here by now?

Totally agree with you about the GOP cowards in Congress. But, that doesn’t absolve the administration of this fuck up.
