Looks like it bigmule! And thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

Looks like I'll have to sell my house and move to one that has unstuck trash cans.

I've poured all the lubricant down the sides I could. I've tried the air compressor, squeezing it with clamps (because who knows?), turned it upside and wacked the bottom with a bat, tried jacking the two apart with some dumb pipe clamp contraption I rigged (could never really get a good grip).

It hasn't budged. Maybe if both contact surfaces were perfectly smooth, one of the methods may have worked, but the insides and outsides have years of dried schmutz on them (paint, random dried mystery liquids, etc)

The frankencan looks like it won this round.

Here they are hanging with a heavy duty tug boat rope when I was tried various methods to exert downward force:

split one of them up the side with a knife, then duct tape it back together. Worse case is you at least have a can that isn't stuck together! Razz

Hit it on the side with a mallet while the load is applied. Repeatedly. Vibration is your friend.

Anything that tries to pull the two cans apart. Suspend the top one like you have it, and hang a heavy weight on the bottom. Then smack the sides until the whole thing shakes apart.

People like solving puzzles/fixing things I guess. Just the membership being helpful and/or humorous as always. Smile

I gotta admit, as silly as this trash can thing is, it's kinda fun trying to figure out a solution.

And on the plus side, the fire department might get a kick out of it.

When you used the compressor, how did you use it?

Drill small hole in bottom can and use something like this to force air in between the cans.

If that doesn't work do as kkina said.

And yes four pages on this is silly.

How about hang them upside down (opposite what you have in the picture), drill a hole in the bottom of the top one, then put dish washing soap in the hole and let it hang over night

He already does have one can, it's just a little tall.

I would have put them by the road and replaced 3.9 pages ago. Even if not after all this I'd either live with as is or cut one loose.
