So my wife tried to poison me last night when she swapped our coffee cups and I got some hideous concoction of flavored creamer and Baileys instead of my usual favorite extra bold, black brew.

After the swapping the offending swill we had a discussion about trying new things and not being so rigid in what I like. I'll skip ahead and simply say f%$k no will always be my reply. If I try something new it is highly likely that it won't fly so why bother. Mind you I eat seafood, sushi, Vietnamese food, etc. so I wouldn't begin to say I'm a steak and potatoes guy but I like what I like. I'm sure many of you are the same?

Any who, back to the original question at hand. It piqued my curiosity about what other members prefer when it comes down to their daily brew?

In my mind there are two options, black or everything else, but I'm sure other's may think differently? So chime in and if you are a half-decaf, hazelnut with sprinkles kind of cupcake I'm sure we won't tease you that much. Big Grin

Unless it is iced coffee during the summer, ALWAYS black for me. The stronger the better. I usually have a couple of stove top espresso cups a day, no additives. I don’t even care for the so-called “flavored” coffees like hazelnut, nutmeg, etc.

Black and preferably home roasted. I used to do cream and sugar years ago then wanted to get away from all the sugar. I learned to like it black and can't stand cream and sugar today.

If I go to my dads house (he always has good coffee) I have no problem drinking it black. Plus, he only has almond milk, so black it is.

I can go for some half and half, or a little flavored creamer, but the flavored creamers need to be watered down with half and half, otherwise they are too sweet.

As far as trying different foods, I’ll try anything twice. Sometimes the first time it’s just not prepared correctly. I’m open to try almost any food. The only thing that I will refuse is Surstromming. I wanted to, and I tried, but it smells like hot, rotting, fish garbage. I won’t eat anything that causes immediate vomiting. Balut is something else I can’t do. I hate eating eggs, and one that’s halfway between egg and duck, nope, hard pass.

Of all the odd and weird foods I have tried, less than 10% are things I will eat again.

I've been able to cut out the sugar, but I can't do black coffee. I wish I could. I've been told I'll get used to it but I've never made it more than a few days. I use heavy cream with very bold coffee. Heavy cream is the better choice for my keto diet.

These go to eleven.

Drank it black for most of my life but when I got really messed up by Acid Reflux Disease it was either put some cream in it or quit drinking coffee.

I put some cream in it.

Black.

I really can't imagine ever going back to cream and sugar. It was a transition that culminated five years ago where before I had occasionally had a coffee regular and then mostly black. And then one day just always black.

Now, the only acceptable way to drink adulterated coffee is with whiskey.

I like many coffee varieties, and generally love the smell.

If it's especially fancy coffee, like Yirgacheffe or the like, and especially if brewed at home, just black with a little sugar in the raw is my usual recipe.

If it's average stuff like Folgers or Starbucks or something, it definitely gets things added to it, and the more average the coffee is the more shit I add to it.

But a fancy espresso is probably my favorite, just a bit of chocolate or sugar added.

Or an iced cold brew, with a little sugar.

I'll even have an occasional Frappuccino on a road trip or something like that, no whip cream though, that's too froofy/girly.

My coffee preference is bean fresh ground 1/2 medium roast and 1/2 dark with just a little bit of whole milk. If no whole milk maybe just a few drops of half and half, or tablespoon of 2%. If none is available just black. Never "creamer" or heaven forbid "flavor" of any kind.

Quite fond of double espresso in the morning... or the evening. Don't put anything in it or it'll spoil the Crema!

Wasn't it Gilbert Gottfried who said, "I like my coffee like I like my women: hot, black, and with a little piece of Danish on the side."

I’ve never liked sugar in my coffee, but for much of my life I put cream in it. That likely started when I was a kid. My mother would let me have a little bit of coffee in my milk.

I liked cream because it subdued the bitterness of coffee. But several years ago I realized that I was developing an accommodation for bitterness:
* Preferring my coffee black.
* Liking 100% cacao chocolate.
* Liking the crust on Brie cheese.

Nothing will run me out of a room faster than someone brewing hazelnut coffee. If there is a nastier smell out there somewhere I have yet to come across it.

Other than that, I'll take it any way. I do like cream and sugar, but black is just fine as well.

Coffee from a diner? Black

Coffee to go? Cream and sugar

I can't stand cold black coffee, so I need it doctored if I'm not going to finish it right away.
