We're heading out to Las Vegas in May. Having been there in August 2019 for a George Strait concert, we chose the same hotel and air carrier and have rented a Suburban. We feel comfortable with the city in general, and how to get around by shuttle, foot, or SUV.

I searched Karmanator for topic of "what to do in Las Vegas" and found nothing.

So, with the myriad of things to do there, as I discovered in August 2019, I'm wondering if you might have something unique or fun to do, for a minimum of dollars.

We visited Hoover Dam, Chloride AZ, and Pawnstars last time. I also drove to Baker CA and traversed Baker Grade as a point of professional interest (lubricant formulation). We enjoyed Penn & Teller. We visited 5.11. We ate at the pastry chef restaurant. We toured the Venetian for hours, and enjoyed the hike indoors in August.

The year before, we visited the Grand Canyon from Sedona, AZ.

My short list for this trip is:
1. We are seeing Aerosmith on Memorial Day
2. Red Rock hiking
3. Oatman AZ shootout at noon
4. Kingman AZ UFO museum
5. Photography (scenery, attractions, people)

What else would you do? Paula Abdul is not playing that weekend. Donny and Marie quit. Lots of websites have so many opportunities for entertainment. We're not gamblers. Barry Manilow is still crooning, but I hate to think how he might sound at nearly 80 years old. Similarly, Wayne Newton is somehow still entertaining. Rich Little--we already know he can imitate people--why go see him now?

My wife and I laugh that we are going to shows by people who are "nearly dead." But, really, it is nice to just be with the woman I married 28 years ago.

The Cirque du Soleil shows I have seen (mostly not in Vegas, but one there) are amazing and absolutely worth going to see.

I had an incredible steak at Delmonicos in the Grand Canal shops. For the most part though, I like leaving Las Vegas.

For clean family fun the King's Tournament at the Excalibur is a really great show.
You get served a medieval style meal and watch jousting and sword fighting mixed in with some cool pyrotechnics and humor.
In New York-New York there is a steak house called Gallagher's. The missus and I make it a point to eat there at least once every time we are in town. Gordon Ramsay's "Burgr" joint is a great place too.

Occasionally, I have to go there on business even though I hate casinos. I don’t gamble but the restaurants are world class with incredible wine selections. Looking forward to my next trip.

Always a good choice.

Vegas isn't really my thing. Good as a jumping-off point for some fun outdoor places.

I've gone climbing in Red Rock. Lots of trails out that way.

Shelby American has a small museum/gift shop/shop tour you can take. If you like automotive history. It’s small, but is a good half day spent not far from the strip.

Clark County Shooting Center has trap, pistol and sporting clays for a day of shooting. You can rent shotguns I know for sure, not sure about pistols.

I usually drive out I-15 NORTH and park near the race track and ogle the military aircraft operations out of Nellis AFB. Then I continue up into Utah, crossing a little corner of AZ to get to St. George UT. It is up a bit out of the desert, a slight bit cooler. Then I head to the South entrance of Zion National Park for the incredible views.

Off of Tropicana is a Pinball museum/arcade where all the games are playable. All funds go to maintaining the machines, any profit is donated to the Salvation Army. It’s a pretty cool, fun place. Not fancy at all!!!

North on the strip near SLS and Stratosphere is the Neon Museum, am outdoor museum of iconic Vegas neon signs that have been put in storage and for display. Every couple of years I take the ride up to the Stratosphere observation decks and check out that amazing view too. These are all minimal cost activities.

I love being in Vegas over a weekend, I usually find a gun show, coin show, pawn shops or some other interest going on. South on LV Blvd not as far as Blue Diamond, there is a camera museum/display too, most of not all are actually for sale, film cameras and lenses, all kinds of gear

Michaels at Southpoint, has incredible food too. It's a hidden gem. Our steaks were excellent. Reservations necessary. I've also enjoyed a nice hour long massage at one of the many places off the strip. $60 for an hour or so. Blissful.

Was there in March for a week long meeting. On the final day had about half the day to roam around. Decided to get out of the town and headed to the Mt. Charleston area. Still lots of snow, but beautiful. Was hoping to do some hiking but snow was just too deep. Had lunch at the Mt. Charleston lodge, decent food, just really enjoyed the area.

Visit Valley of Fire, it's about an hour North off I-15. We did this once by taking Lake Powell Blvd and then driving to VoF on North Shore Rd, pretty scenic. To come back, exit to the west and take I-15 South. Lots of photo ops, nice hiking. Overton is not too far from the East entrance and has decent food, we always like Inside Scoop, sandwiches and ice cream.

Good choice hiking Red Rock. I'd also recommend hiking the historic rail trail from the Lake Mead visitor center to Hoover Dam. In May I'd go early before the desert starts to heat up. Bring plenty of water.

We had a great time horseback riding in Oatman and Red Rock.

Zip Lines - Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon It's a lot of fun and you'll get some hiking in getting there.
