"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

We went there years ago with my parents,to renew our vows and just to see the sites. I would suggest renting a car if you don't drive there. We gambled very little as there were a lot of things to see and do and we aren't gamblers. The food was good, even in the cheaper places. We walked part of the strip and walked in and out of some of the casinos/stores just to see the construction of/in them and restaurants, believe it or not. We got my daughter a donut the size of a car tire and the look on her face when we handed it to her was priceless. We wanted to see a show but they are booked long in advance, so if you want to see one, look online and buy tickets then. We also went out to the canyons around the city and that was pretty neat. There were horses and donkeys walking around freely. We only spent four days there but it went quickly.

One thing I regret not doing was going to the full auto gun shoot they have there, I think it is Battlefield Las Vegas. They have some pretty cool stuff.

Lastly, if you go to any of the cheaper buffets, tell them to not be stingy with the yella.

I go for the food, the hockey, and just for a break from the routine of work. Not a cheap date, but I like to go to the track and race cars. The one I prefer is exotics racing.

I'm not a hard core gambler, but I do enjoy some low-stakes blackjack or poker once every few years.

Last time I was in LV, quite a few years ago, the buffet at the Rio was outstanding.

saw Barry Manilow here in Florida just over a year ago- and his show was actually good. I feel sad for a lot of the older performers, and did not for him. and would not have been caught dead at a Manilow concert in my youth. so if he's playing and you like his music, go for it.

I like the magic shows, there are some really good yet relatively unknown magicians in Vegas.

Vegas for me has become a food center, there's A LOT of good food for a variety of tastes. With all the international visitors who not only visit but, also have re-settled in Vegas, there's a lot to choose from. Wether you want upscale, to Michelin-star quality or, you're fine with strip-mall, fast casual variety, or, the buffet, there's a lot of place to dine at.

The National Atomic Test Museum is probably one of the more fascinating places to visit in Vegas. Well worth the 2+ hours you can spend there.

The Neon Museum I've been meaning to visit. Not that it's some great cultural/historical experience but, interesting to see some of the changes in signage and the interesting stroll through their graveyard of signs.

National Museum of Organized Crime & Law Enforcement , otherwise known as the Mob Museum. Haven't been, always seemed odd that there's a museum to high-level criminal activity.

I like to visit Wild West guns just off the strip, nice staff and can play with all those neat takedown lever guns. Also PVK knife store on the strip near polo towers tiny shop with neat cutlery.
The silverton casino has a nice buffet ( I think it is nicer than some of the strip main hotels) and a stroll through the huge attached bass pro is never a bad thing either

I enjoyed the Atomic Mueseum (Groupon usually has a generous deal), the Mob Museum and "O" the only Cirque show I've seen (twice).

You might consider purchasing a American Casino Guide book. Lots of 2 for 1 stuff.

It's been over 10 years since we've been to Vegas. The Hoover Dam tour was very good. Lotus of Siam, a Thai restaurant off the strip was excellent, one of the best meals we had in Vegas.

That reminds me -- how much does a washing machine weigh? My prescription med says not to operate heavy machinery, and I want to do my laundry.

Thank you all for many suggestions. I am collecting them in a spreadsheet with category, location, etc. and will be studying this with my bride of 28 years. Keep the ideas flowing, if you all have any more.
