This occurred July 3rd and was widely reported locally, but now it's national news.

I find it satisfying that she's sitting in the now-infamous Delaney Hall, Newark, NJ. Great opportunity to learn a foreign language

Canadian Woman In ICE Custody, Allegedly “Slapped” Teenager Wearing Clothing That Said “Trump” And “ICE”

A 33-year-old Canadian woman living in New Jersey is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody after she was arrested for allegedly striking a teenager wearing sweatpants with the words “Trump” and “ICE” on them.

The alleged incident occurred on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach during the Fourth of July weekend.

Kaitlyn E. Tracey allegedly “slapped the victim across her face and body,” Fox News stated.

Tracey allegedly approached a group of teens while recording them on her phone.

Fox News shared further:

Tracey reportedly did not jive with the group’s “patriotic colored sweatpants with political wording,” police said.

The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department said it happened Friday night, July 3, during the start of the Fourth of July holiday weekend; surveillance video captured her allegedly “striking the juvenile female, once to the body and once to the face, with an open hand.”

She then ran off from the scene. Days later, Tracey was arrested on charges following an investigation into the case.

Police confirm Tracey is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction.

Tracey, who is a Canadian citizen, came to the U.S. in 2024 with a passport, the report says.

Tracey’s husband, Matthew Geroni, posted an emotional plea on social media regarding the alleged incident.

“I need help. I don’t know what to do; my wife is being detained by ICE. My wife is a Canadian citizen, and I am an American citizen; we’ve been married for a little over three years. I’m just doing anything I can to get her story heard and bring any help and attention so that I can get her released, even if that means back to Canada,” Geroni said on TikTok, according to Newsweek.

Newsweek has more:

Newsweek completed a search through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Online Detainee Locator System, which shows that Tracey is in ICE custody at Delaney Hall. Tracey’s husband confirmed it in a video shared to his Instagram.

“We are doing everything we can to help her and support her and get her out of there as quickly as possible,” he said.

Geroni said a GoFundMe fundraiser had been established for Tracey, but that it was taken down after it was mass-reported by what he described as “MAGA supporters on Facebook.”

A fundraiser for Tracey on GiveSendGo had garnered $650 as of Wednesday afternoon.

“To ensure Kate can continue accessing the legal support she needs, we’ve established this new fundraising effort,” the sites reads. “Regardless of any municipal charges, every person deserves the right to fair, competent legal representation and due process. Access to an attorney should never depend on someone’s financial circumstances.”

Geroni claims “a lot of misinformation” had been disseminated regarding his wife. In another Instagram video, he insisted she didn’t evade police, that no one was hurt and that she later surrendered to authorities.

Geroni told the Asbury Park Press he last saw his wife on Monday when she turned herself into police. She was turned over to ICE after being held at the Ocean County Jail. Francis R. Hodgson, Tracey’s attorney, told the outlet she is scheduled to appear in court on August 4.

Thank goodness for that. Without Barbara Billingsley with us to translate this could have been a problem.

The word is jibe (in accordance with a known set of facts). Who wrote this? Roll Eyes

And no, Canadians as a whole don't hate us. Of the ones that do, hate is often borne from envy.

A lot of talk about process and release but not one mention of apology?

1. Battery on a teen, not even an adult.
2. Not apologetic, no remorse or admission of wrongdoing.
3. Focus on self rather than an admission of corrective behavior necessary moving forward.
4. Acting contrary to the prevailing sentiment of a country not hers.

Yea, she probably deserves the book.

I'm aware this comment is tangential at best, but I don't think it deserves it's own thread.

At an "antique" (ie, old junk) tourist trap on Route 1, there's a sign in the parking lot that says "ICE=Gestapo"

My sense of self-preservation limits my response to flying the bird as I drive by, but my baser instincts would REALLY like to stop and slap the stupid out of that moron. Not that they'd get any of my business anyway (I have enough old junk, thanks) but hell would freeze over before they'd get a nickel out of me.

If your visa expired in Sept. of 2024, then it would seem unwise to call attention to yourself. Maybe she wanted to go home, couldn’t afford a ticket, and decided this would be achieve her goal.

Presumably has green card now? Or in process of getting one? Not a good thing to do if trying to get a card. Battery on teenage citizens is probably not conducive to card approval.

Yep. I grew up as an expat in Europe, and it was well understood that we were guests of the host nation, and if we did anything to offend the government of that host nation they were well within their rights to kick us out. Going around slapping kids would definitely be a way to do that.

No indication whatsoever that woman and her husband sought legal US citizenship for her. If she does not already have a green card, she may end up back in Canada very soon. What puzzles me is why are women so often the protesters against ICE, Trump, Maga, whatever?

Do Canadians hate us?

When I spent time in Canada in the 80s, the Canadians loved us.
Now not so much. Their ultra leftist government hates Trump and conservatives.
Yet, they are very reliant on the US.
The Trump administration is in the midst of telling them we will cancel the current trade agreement.

The conservative treehouse does a good job laying this out.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

What DHS says:

Kaitlyn Tracey is a criminal illegal alien from Canada who was charged with simple assault, neglect of a child, compounding crime, and harassing communication.

She allegedly struck a teenage girl wearing pro-Trump memorabilia on a boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach during 4th of July weekend. She was arrested by the Point Pleasant Beach Police department who facilitated a controlled transfer into ICE custody, where she will remain pending her immigration proceedings.

She entered the United States on April 14, 2024, on a visa set to expire on September 6, 2024. In violation of our nation’s laws, she overstayed her visa and failed to depart.

Well, I feel bad for the slapper.

It has to be hard being stupid, especially with little-to-no impulse control.

On top of that, she's an illegal person. Wink

She’s been here a good while, overstaying the visa. She should know, keep a low profile if you’re here illegally.
