Might not have helped that I originally wrote it somewhat incorrectly. "America is at that awkward stage. Don’t know if the weekend will interrupt tests and especially treatment, but here’s hoping that no later than Tuesday, you’re back to Hawkeye again (or at least in recuperation). _______________________________________________________ despite them

My prayers for you, ensigmatic. I don't follow the medical jargon but I do know my eyes are important to me in my work. When I can't tell the difference between an 8 and a 3 on an Excel spreadsheet, I'm fucked. Which was how I felt until I was diagnosed with cataracts and it was all fixed. It sounds like yours is even more complicated than just the eye. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Ive had 2, and both times instant nausea. Weirdest feeling. Test is super easy though and pain free.

Para's nailed it. It is either a detached retina, or a branch vascular occlusion. I'd guess, based on the almost instantaneous onset, a branch arterial occlusion. Hoping it's a detachment, as that is an easier fix. It is an incredible place! And thanks. Update I'm back home. After some twenty hours in the hospital, two EKGs (one in Emergency, another after being admitted), three blood draws, two heart echo's (one in the Emergency Room, another after I was admitted), a CAT scan, an MRI, a carotid artery sonogram, two neurological exams (one in the ER, the other by a Neurologist after I was admitted), numerous BP, HR, and blood oxy checks, and being stuck more times than I'd care to count, here's what they found: Nada. They found so little the lead doctor didn't even bother touching base with me when I was told they were cutting me loose. My duty nurse walked in, said "Good news: We're letting you go." And that was it. Asked her "So I'm guessing y'all found nothing." "Not a thing," she replied. So it seem I'm gonna live--for now, anyway. I've been directed to follow-up with my GP to arrange for a cardiologist to have me fitted with an afib monitor for a week, just to be sure. I have a follow-up with my ophthalmologist in a week or so, too. Vision is still impaired, but it doesn't seem as bad as it first did. I do note something else new, though. When I look in a mirror the afflicted eye now points somewhat higher than the other. Oh, yeah: Unless this impairment abates at least a little more: I won't be aiming with my right eye any longer "America is at that awkward stage. Prayers you get this all figured out. I'm in awe of the folks on here sharing their experiences to try to get you diagnosed and on the mend. Best forum on the planet. "Someday I hope to be half the man my bird-dog thinks I am." looking forward to 4 years of TRUMP!

Back in 2007 I had a Transient Ischemic Attack that had me "seeing" gray in my right eye for about 90 seconds and then it all cleared up. Two other times my left leg went totally numb, could have put a cigar out on it without feeling a thing. Duration for the numbness was about 2 minutes. After the third episode I told my doctor about it and he started me on coumadin for about 3 months. However I do a lot of work with my hands and bleeding like a stuck pig from a tiny scratch got old real quick so I asked about dropping the coumadin and using Aspirin instead. I've been on Aspirin ever since. Anyhow, if you aren't taking a daily aspirin now I would suggest you start doing it. All you need for protection is 81 mg. I've stopped counting.

I can't offer you anything in the way of help other than prayers, so that's what you've got. I hope the eye comes back 100%. === I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

Yay! Plus, it sounds like the symptoms are getting better. Here's hoping they go away altogether, and soon.

I made it so far, now I'll go for more |
Eye issues can be very concerning for sure. I lost part of the vision in one eye years ago from shingles. Yeah, I am the lucky one. The other day I got up with this lump on my good eye. I got in to see my optometrist to have a look and he said, for the lack of a better work, a blister on my eye. Looks like a clear zit to me. I am currently in the wait and see mode. Irritating as hell though. Bob I am no expert, but think I am sometimes.
