When my second retina detached, I went to the ER. 3000 dollars later and a bunch of worthless tests. ER's can't do eye exams unless you have a pencil sticking out of your eye. Find the local retina hospital and get there ASAP. Mine was fuzzy on Saturday and totally blind on Monday. Because retina was already off, they were not in that great of a hurry because damage was done. Surgery to re-attach following Thursday. Unless you are dying, I would avoid ER's.

Well, she’s done an exam. Dilated the one eye and everything. She’s not seeing anything wrong. She’s currently consulting with her senior.

A partially detached retina is not going to be missed in a dilated exam. Sounds like the migraine idea may be correct. They might want to do an angiogram, probably not.

Update: Looks like it may be a retinal branch arterial occlusion.

Angiogram in your immediate future. Nothing to it, but the dye they use can make you nauseous, but there's only a slight chance of that.

Thats definitely the plan this year. My dad gave me the card for his retinal doc, just need to make the time for an appt.

It’s caused by plaque. Apparently this has potentially serious implications. She’s talking about having me admitted immediately for a stroke eval.

I thought of a vein occlusion, although given the partial field loss, I'd vote for a branch occlusion. The vitreous hemorrhage is a good guess as well, though in my experience photographing such hemorrhages, they become diffuse in the vitreous body rather than remain localized.

Man, Para is so spot on with assessment. Retinal specialist is the immediate requirement. Sounds like a vein occlusion. I’m certain your blood pressure is high now but how has it been? A certain cause of central vein occlusions within the eye. Hang tough brother

Vein occulsion is not the same as arterial occlusion and the etiologies are different as well. Suspect you are going to need a Neurologist's evaluation as well. Hang in there and get all the testing done!

I get these occasionally. Just as he described. They're a bit unnerving but not serious. That would be the best outcome in this instance
