Him and Dennis Miller are 2 of my comedic heroes.
Here they are together on Millers HBO show- you can tell these 2 were close.

Wow. It's rare that I feel these losses, and far rarer that I post in these threads, but wow. What a gut punch.

Germans love David Hasselhoff. I just loved it when he would say that, or when he would end a comment with, “or so the Germans would have you believe.”

He just was such a funny man. He is gone far before his time and he will be missed. RIP Norm.

This is a real bummer.

When I was in junior high I took Drama, and was cast as the villain in our play. I did it as Evil Norm MacDonald.

Sad news indeed. I was just recounting one of his standup bits to a friend of mine a few days ago.

If there's such a thing, MacDonald was 'an advanced comic', his delivery and method was beyond what the model of comedian called for; he was poo-poo'd by critics and wasn't basic enough for Hollywood.

Those two defied SNL and thus the producers didn't know what to do with them, no wonder they got shoved over as the host of the evening news.

What passes as comedy there is being a suck-up like Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon, or being an accessible doofus like Will Farrell and Adam Sandler. I attempted to watch an SNL episode recently...there wasn't a single person on the cast that had any talent, it was pathetic.

The reason I love this clip is that it is classic Norm. He has some wins, he has a bomb (and pushes through it) and then in the last few seconds of this clip, hits a home run that knocks Conan out.

I thought he had some very funny movies, and some hilarious moments on SNL, back when it was funny.

Truly upsetting, I had no idea he was ill.
He was a comedic genius, I always enjoyed his humor and wit.

What a loss, indeed too young.

May Norm Rest In Peace.

Saw that news today and was completely taken aback. I had no idea he'd even been sick, much less so close to succumbing to his illness. He was a smug, smart alecky, annoying thorn in the side of many of the folks I abhor. He will be missed.

What a talent....and loss. Interesting that he took the approach of not revealing his illness so it wouldn't be a distraction to his work. Glad his work can still be enjoyed.

Imagine having a terminal illness, and being locked down in the way that he was for so long. I'd noticed an uptick of YouTube bits where he would call people from his home at some point back during the lockdowns. I really really enjoyed his style. He was a pretty smart guy. Which explains why he and Dennis got along so well.
