Here's an interesting recommendation from a conservative lawyer about using the False Claims Act (FCA) to allow whistleblowers to get rich if they can prove places like Harvard have falsely sworn they don't practice discrimination to get Fed money. Worth the read:

Link

quote:
The False Claims Act (31 U.S.C. § 3730; the “FCA”) was passed over 150 years ago to address a seemingly intractable problem: widespread fraud by defense contractors during the Civil War. Under the FCA, a person who knowingly submits a false claim to the government is liable for three times the government’s damages plus additional penalties. For example, a hospital that knowingly obtains $10 million from the federal government on bogus Medicare invoices would be liable to the government for over $30 million.

But while the government can bring such claims itself, the FCA has another important component: the ability for whistleblowers (i.e., people with inside information of the fraud) to bring FCA suits in the government’s name, and receive a reward of up to 30% the funds recovered. Such private prosecutions are known as qui tam actions, and the vast majority of the billions recovered annually under the FCA arise from them.

For example, suppose you are an employee of the hospital in the foregoing hypothetical, and you discover that it is fraudulently billing Medicare for MRI’s that never occurred. You find a lawyer who specializes in FCA qui tam cases, who then prepares and files the qui tam action in federal court under seal, and serves the Department of Justice a copy of the complaint and a comprehensive memorandum explaining the claim and the evidence that the whistleblower has. The Department of Justice can then choose to intervene in the case and thereafter prosecute it, or it can decline to do so and allow you to do so. Either way, if the FCA qui tam suit is successful, the whistleblower receives a reward of up to 30% of the funds recovered (typically, 15-20% where the government takes over the case).

The False Claims Act (FCA) looks like a powerful weapon against corruption. I wonder why I didn’t know of it before.

And another case of Fuck Around, Find Out.

Charged, in Manhattan, with a HATE CRIME for vandalizing a Tesla.

Anti-Trump therapist arrested for vandalizing Tesla in Jewish NYC neighborhood claims she is 'living in terror'

Thomas Stevenson
Apr 21, 2025 2 minute read

A woman who left a brick on top of a Cybertruck in New York City with a swastika as well as the word "Nazi" written across it has been identified as a left-wing family therapist and blamed Elon Musk for her actions as she was arrested. When she was detained, she relayed to police that she made the "mistake" because she is "living in terror every day that the country is turning into Nazi Germany.”

Natasha Cohen, 46, who also goes by Carrie, was arraigned on hate-crime charges on Saturday evening, according to the New York Post. She was then released on her own recognizance. She has a private practice where she works with children, adolescents, and their families in therapy sessions.

According to her Teachers Pay Teachers profile, she sells resources to help kids who have ADHD, body dysmorphia issues, as well as anxiety. She also has "advanced training in maternal mental health," her webpage states. In addition to this, her online presence shows that she is opposed to President Donald Trump. Authorities have said that Cohen placed the brick with the swastika on top of a windshield of a Cybertruck found in a Jewish neighborhood as well as dumped a bag of trash on top of the car, and she was caught doing so on camera, police said.

“Every time I see those cars, I see Elon Musk saluting the country as a Nazi,” Cohen said when she was being arrested on April 12, police documents stated. “I made a mistake because I’m basically living in terror every day that the country is turning into Nazi Germany."

Another US Army “social Justice warrior” who made a statement (in this case an action, or a failure to act) got herself FIRED from her position.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...p-Vance-Hegseth.html

Army immediately suspends Fort McCoy commander after astonishing insult to Trump, Vance and Hegseth

A senior Army commander was suspended after the Wisconsin fort she ran failed to post photos of Donald Trump, JD Vance and Pete Hegseth on her base's chain-of-command board.

The Pentagon has had a chaotic past week, with several top staffers let go following an investigation into leaks.

Hegseth has consistently tried to lay down the law on insubordination, having previously fired a Space Force commander stationed in Greenland after appearing to distance herself from comments made by the vice president.

On Sunday, the Defense Secretary retweeted a story about the suspension of Colonel Sheyla Baez Ramirez.

'Commander of Fort McCoy, whose base chain-of-command board was missing photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseth, has been SUSPENDED,' the post from Breitbart reporter Katrina Wong read.

Ramirez is what's known as the Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy, responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of a military installation.

A social media post a week ago showing black, blank photo frames where Trump, Vance and Hegseth should be made waves on social media and led to a Defense Department investigation, Task & Purpose reported.

The military outlet noted that there was speculation that Ramirez made the omissions on purpose but it was never confirmed.

Fort McCoy's Senior Commander Maj. Gen. Patrick J. Reinert did not make any connections in a statement.

'Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez has been suspended as Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy. This suspension is not related to any misconduct. We have no further details to provide at this time while this matter is under review,' he said.

The Army Reserves had said on April 14 that the chain-of-command board was a victim of vandals, not naming Ramirez whatsoever.

'The Fort McCoy leadership team and the Army Reserve were unaware of the vandalism of the leadership board at a building at Fort McCoy, WI. Once it was brought to their attention, the leadership at Fort McCoy took immediate action to correct it.'

When Ramirez was suspended, the Army Reserves put out the same statement as Reinert had for Fort McCoy.

Ramirez had been promoted to garrison commander in July of 2024 after serving as chief of the Army Reserves at Fort Belvoir in Virginia.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Pentagon for comment.

If confirmed this was over the chain-of-command board, Ramirez would be the second official disciplined over insubordination.

Hmmm, if that was the case she should have been hiding in an attic somewhere. I’m guessing at some point she had a history class or two. She must have forgot it was the Nazis drawing swastikas and doing the intimidation.

Deficient Handbag Security: DHS Sec'y Noem's Purse With $3K, Badge Stolen At DC Eatery

https://www.zerohedge.com/poli...dge-stolen-dc-eatery

The crime unfolded Sunday night as Noem was eating with her extended family at Darden Restaurants-owned Capital Burger on Seventh Street NW in Washington DC. When it was over, Noem was without her large "Gucci B" shoulder bag (some of which retail for $4,400), a $600 Louis Vitton Clemence Purse, and valuable contents that included roughly $3,000 in cash, her DHS badge, passport, driver's license, credit cards, blank checks, medicine and apartment keys. “Her entire family was in town including her children and grandchildren,” DHS told the New York Times via email. “She was using the cash withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities and Easter gifts.”

A law enforcement source told the Post that a review of security camera footage captured a white man in an N-95 mask, dark pants, a "fur-type" collar and ball cap pulling off the crime. Around 7:55pm, he entered Capital Burger and headed up a few stairs to the area where Noem was dining. After sitting near her, he maneuvered his chair close to hers and surreptitiously used his foot to nudge her handbag toward him. A few minutes later, he picked it up, tucked it inside his jacket, walked out the door and down the street. Noem had just finished settling the tab when she felt something brush against her leg; at that moment, she thought it was a grandchild, sources told the New York Post.

In addition to embarrassing the woman responsible for securing the homeland, the theft is the latest in a long-running series of failures of the Secret Service, which is itself a DHS agency. While her detail is considerably smaller than that of the president or vice president, Noem is least nominally under round-the-clock Secret Service "protection." At least two agents in street clothes were sitting at the Capital Burger's bar, somewhere between the front doors and Noem's table, a witness told NBC News, adding that the eatery wasn't particularly crowded when the incident occurred.

A low level purse snatcher steals the head of the DHS purse in a presumably crowded restaurant while she was surrounded by her entire family, at least some Secret Service staff and surely Corey Lewandowski was somewhere nearby keeping an eye on things! Embarrassing all around. I'm getting quite annoyed with her and her constant glamour photo ops. I know Trump likes to reward his supporters but I think he's made a mistake with her.

I can't understand how this random guy was able to get a seat close enough to her to kick her purse under the table with his foot. Noone said who is this guy? This had to be a private seating area. Details are missing from this story. I call BS

How does the Secret Service even think of letting someone in a mask near one of their protectees? Hell, the restaurant should have kicked him out just for wearing a mask.

I presumed. It's somewhere between not particularly crowded and presumably crowded. Makes little difference.
