He may be working 70 or 80 hour weeks. Shirley you jest. There is a big difference between not sitting up and looking alive and wanting to give him the finger and having TDS. That was a serious question I asked. I still don't know how you figured all that out. If you could please tell me, it might help me spot these things in the future.

I have never operated a crane, or anything close to equipment that size, but he has his foot on one of those pedals as he is napping/resting. Maybe the crane is completely shut off and nothing is operable, but that looks extremely unsafe, especially with POTUS right there.

He may be really tired. I have been that tired, I know, but I am pretty sure I could keep alert for 5-10 minutes while the leader of the free world is close to me, even if I have to get down and walk around.

The crane operator knew that the President was there or on his way and that it would be a photo op for those interested. In these situations the USSS comes out in advance to secure the area and remind the folks to not make any furtive moves.

I’m of the opinion that he’s a dick. He even looks like he’s smirking.

His head movement at the beginning of the video tells me he's not asleep at all. I'm aware of head bobbing falling asleep, but I don't think this is it.

I guess I am in the "Couldn't care less." category. My first reaction watching it was, "Oh man, he's never going to live that down. His buds will be giving him a ration for years." I've never run a crane, but I have a few thousand hours running excavators. There is a hydraulic disable lever that one uses before exiting the machine. I'd be surprised if there isn't one on a crane, and further surprised if the SS didn't require the hydraulic disabled if not the engine off. Yeah, the "watch out" light and chirper is going off, but that may be all that is live.

I've personally never fallen asleep on a machine while running it, though there have been plenty of times when if I had to stop the machine and sit idle for any length of time at all I'd have been sawing serious logs...
