That was good. I wish there were more Thomas Massie's in Congress. We're kind of screwed until there are.

^^^ Yes sir. I remember.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Regarding the Massie interview, I started watching and moved on as the interviewer just kept talking....and talking. Reminds me of Hannity. So many interviewers just want to hear themselves talk.

Okay, off my soapbox. I'll give it another go and fast forward a bit.

White House shares staggering number of countries who want to make deals on tariffs

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...ke-deal-tariffs.html

More than 50 countries have reached out to the Trump administration to negotiate tariff deals, according to a White House advisor.

'They're doing that because they understand that they bear a lot of the tariff,' National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said on Sunday.

They will all come around eventually. That's what it's about.

I'm seeing a lot of criticism on other social media about the implementation of this plan, how they are not really true reciprocal tariffs, just an arbitrary number designed to disrupt and cause pain. I'm like, yeah? Okay. Most of these countries would have never entertained the thought of negotiating if it weren't for the tariffs.

Those countries that don't want to come to the table will suffer more than the U.S. until they do. All they have to do is call. DJT will actually answer.

Art of the deal.

Yes! The best thing to happen to my retirement was Obama.

Maybe Monday Trump will come out with a delay of 30 to 60 days on the tariffs in order to allow countries that are responding with interest in working with the US to come to an agreement.

keeping the tariff on countries that are not positively responding.

Think it would be good for the market to see some positives over the program..

Anything in particular you will load up on? Index funds, mutual funds, bonds, individual stocks. Might be a good thing to think through before Monday close of market. FYI, I agree it will be a great buying opportunity. I'm getting ready to retire and have a solid financial plan so I've been pretty much out of equities for the last few years.

UK prime minister to admit ‘globalization is over’ in response to Trump tariffs: report
Trump recently announced a 10% tariff on goods imported from the UK

By Michael Lee | Fox News
Published April 6, 2025 12:12pm EDT

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce Monday that he understands the rationale behind President Donald Trump’s tariffs and that the West is entering a new economic era.

"The world has changed, globalization is over and we are now in a new era," the prime minister’s office said in a statement to the Sunday Times. "We’ve got to demonstrate that our approach, a more active Labour government, a more reformist government, can provide the answers for people in every part of this country."

The statement comes after Trump announced new tariffs on dozens of countries around the world on Wednesday, including a 10% levy on goods from the U.K.

While Starmer will still argue that tariffs are wrong, according to the Sunday Times report, the prime minister will also admit that he understands the rationale behind Trump’s move and why such policies have become increasingly popular with voters.

"Trump has done something that we don’t agree with, but there’s a reason why people are behind him on this," the prime minister’s office said in the statement.

Starmer is expected to emphasize the failures of free trade and mass migration specifically during the address on Sunday, the report said, arguing that it has failed millions of voters.

Meanwhile, the report noted that Trump ally Elon Musk seemingly publicly broke with the president during a video interview for an event in Italy Saturday, saying he hopes, eventually, for a "zero-tariff" solution between the U.S. and Europe one day.

"At the end of the day, I hope it’s agreed that both Europe and the United States should move, ideally, in my view, to a zero-tariff situation, effectively creating a free-trade zone between Europe and North America," he said.

Musk also called for there to eventually be more "freedom" of movement between the two continents, an apparent break from Trump’s hard line on immigration.

"That’s what I hope occurs, and also more freedom of people to move between Europe and North America if they wish," Musk said. "If they wish to work in Europe or wish to work in America, they should be allowed to do so, in my view. So that has certainly been my advice to the president."

Not aimed at anyone in particular, but for those worried about the stock market and investments tied to it and wonder if you should bail, if you can't handle a few bumps, don't get on the ride.

If they're doing this in good faith, then I'd be fine with huge waivers/delays on tariffs. The whole point of this is to bring people to the table. Hell, I'd even be fine with giving some cultures a "face saving" way out if it gets us where we need to be.

Conventional mainstream thought has turned out to be disastrously deadly. Numb brained masses blindly believe that conventional thought, seeing any alternative position as bizarre.

Thus we do need such lunatics as RFK Jr, and indeed DJT, who are anything but conventional.

This agreement is a promising start, but its true success hinges on reciprocal trade. We can't celebrate tariff-free access and increased export volume to XYZ country if there's no corresponding demand for American goods. The goal isn't just to ship American products; it's to foster a mutually beneficial relationship. A one-way flow of goods creates an imbalance, undermining the potential for long-term economic growth and prosperity on both sides. True victory lies in American goods, produced by American labor, reaching markets worldwide, fueling economic activity and creating jobs here at home. We need to see concrete action that translates this 'paper' win into tangible exports and robust trade partnerships. The ultimate objective is shipping American goods to Asia, Europe, Central and South America – worldwide – and realizing the full potential of global trade.
