Could the rare minerals mining have become a quagmire of American “boots on the ground” sent to protect personnel in the mining operation? Yes, it could because we would have to protect those people and it would be a long-term commitment. I don't want a permanent US presence in that country. I'm glad there was "no deal". Sleazy politicians fleeing their countries with bags of money seems to be a fairly common occurrence. So, I see Zelensky eventually fleeing Ukraine for one reason or another.
