White House staffers literally ate Zelensky's lunch...

https://x.com/unusual_whales/s...-ukraine-rare-earths

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

It was almost a good cop bad cop on him. I absolutely loved the entire exchange and Zelensky was put in his place despite his best efforts to posture. Its incredible to watch. What a great inside view into American diplomacy, especially from a position of strength.

I have never seen a VP so involved and out front with the President, it's great.

There’s talk on Twitter right now that Zelensky was demanding US troops on the ground as a condition to any sort of “deal“ and Trump told him no way in hell was that happening.

Could the rare minerals mining have become a quagmire of American “boots on the ground” sent to protect personnel in the mining operation?
Yes, it could because we would have to protect those people and it would be a long-term commitment. I don't want a permanent US presence in that country.
I'm glad there was "no deal".

Apropos J. D. Vance’s involvement, today Trump was like: “I’ll be the good cop, you’ll be the bad cop……………on second thought, f it, we’ll both be the bad cop and drop both barrels on him”.

While I would have preferred a different outcome today, Zelenskyy needs to get the message, things have changed.

Moments after Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky left the White House ...

Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminated US support for restoring Ukraine's energy grid, which was funded by a USAID initiative that had invested hundreds of millions of dollars, NBC reports

The State Department this week terminated a U.S. Agency for International Development initiative that has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help restore Ukraine's energy grid from attacks by the Russian military, according to two USAID officials working on the agency’s Ukraine mission.

...

Based on a document obtained by NBC News, the State Department has also ordered the termination of a program focused on “financial sector reform activity.”

“We won’t have the eyes on where this money has gone over the last few years,” one of the officials said.

We all remember this right? Zelensky shouldn't have sided with the democrats starting in President Trump's first term.

Zelenskyy has been puffed up by Democrats for years, he is basically one of them now. Prior to today's meeting, Democrats have been fluffing up this asshole:

Sleazy politicians fleeing their countries with bags of money seems to be a fairly common occurrence.
So, I see Zelensky eventually fleeing Ukraine for one reason or another.
When he does, I'm waiting to see how much of our money he takes with him.
