NY Post: 'DOGE Dividend' Could Become Law

A proposal referred to as the "DOGE dividend," which would redistribute 20% of government savings from cuts to taxpayers, could become law, the New York Post learned on Thursday.

Earlier this week, 28-year-old hedge fund manager James Fishback met with lawmakers to discuss the idea.

Fishback told the Post, "The president supports this and Elon likes the idea of incentivizing people to report waste, fraud, and abuse. The proposed bill will be coming in the next few days."

Last week, President Donald Trump spoke at the FII Institute PRIORITY Summit in Miami. There, he suggested that "a new concept" was "under consideration," where "we give 20% of the DOGE savings to American citizens and 20% goes to paying down debt."

Under Fishbank's proposal, the remaining 60% of savings would go toward the allocated budget.

The Post added that "according to [Fishback's] math," this would mean 79 million households would receive $5,000 checks if Elon Musk can cut $2 trillion from the federal budget.

Meanwhile, it doesn't appear that money going toward paying down the debt would outpace deficit spending. This week, the House passed its budget bill, which, according to USA Today, would add "almost $3 trillion to the federal deficit over 10 years."

Nonetheless, Fishback suggested that the first checks come in July 2026, when DOGE is expected to terminate, or they could come earlier if the proposal becomes law.

The Post stated that some economists believe the dividend checks could increase inflation.

Fishback, however, stated that "Sending checks isn't inflationary … lockdowns and labor shortages compounded the effect of inflation [during COVID]. But the macro backdrop today is disinflationary."

"It is similar to tax refund season — when the average check from the IRS is $3,100 and it goes to people's rainy day fund, saving, and paying down debt."

Fishback noted that the government would only send checks to people paying taxes, which would incentivize people to get back to work — as opposed to the COVID stimulus checks.

do they think it was Zelinsky that has kept Soviet Russia at bay for the last 75 years?

They are pretty quick to piss on the US. but damn, I would like to see them stand up to Putin on their own.

We, the United States, need to leave NATO and not provide one single cent in aid to any EU nation, close our bases and let the EU defend itself. Enough is enough.

Agreed. We’ve been tied down in Europe since 1945. Granted, the first 5 years or so was more or less required as the Euros were exhausted from World Wars, Parts 1 & 2 and were in no shape to do anything but clear away the rubble. But that has long since passed and they need to take care of their own messes.

Think of the savings to the USA that would result by closing down every American military base in Europe. We could then redirect those funds to rebuilding our own CONUS bases.

Bring the troops home.

Cut any and all aid sent to Norway and tell them to go F themselves and enjoy life so under their future Soviet rulers.

Do they produce anything we import? Put a 500% tariff on all their goods.

We should respond to Norway by banning their government sovereign wealth fund from owning any U.S. assets: stock, bonds, real estate.

They're a bunch of lefties who support Hamas and Iran. Just like Qatar, a small wealthy country.

Ridiculous, childish behavior from Norway. Who needs who? We sure as Hell don't need them.

It's not going to happen but if we would get out of NATO, I'd be elated. The governments of modern Europe, for the most part and with few exceptions, does not share our values.

I'd also dearly love to see us withdraw from the worthless, America-hating and Israel-hating United Nations. If it were up to me, we'd kick the UN out of New York, implode the UN building, salvage the steel and aluminum to make tanks and rifles and push the remaining debris into the East River.

I am sick of these maggots.

Well, we now have the Lord of the Rings version of Zelensky's visit Big Grin

quote:

Okay, but in this scenario, youre not an adventurer, you're the small king of the small kingdom. The Elves have already given you 350 billion gold coins, swords and bows, lembas bread, etc. The only reason the kingdom has stood this long is because of outside aid.

The Elves can't afford to keep funding it and want peace, offering an agreement that would put Elves to work on the ground in the kingdom, disincentivizing the orcs from attacking and thus provoking the Elves, all while they also recoup some of their losses from the aid.

During a signing ceremony that should have been a mere formality, the small king interrupts, rolls his eyes, and eventually starts making demands for Elf armies to even consider the already all-but-signed deal. When the Elf king's advisor says this behavior is ungrateful and asks for some show of appreciation for all their help, the small king responds by saying "bitch" and making allusions to how the Elves are going to feel when they're in trouble.

The Elf king's says the small king is not ready for peace and kicks him out. Many Elvish citizen cheer because they are tired of their gold and goods being used to support a far away war, and this king who disrespects them and shows no gratitude, all while demanding more charity.

I'm really struck by both Rubio and Vance...both of whom were not great fans (or any fan at all) of Trump. Both of these guys are extremely defensive of Trump, extremely articulate, quick to answer, and without the Obama/Clintonesque hesitation with the "ah and uh" oratorial tricks to make one think that they are somehow above you.

These guys are good, and I truly believe that they believe and are not just playing the part

Absolutely agree. And it’s not just their speaking ability. Their relative youth, vigor and intensity further increase the impression made, which is formidable. And they always give the credit to Trump.

It has been resolved, the sub got its backup generator fuel. Here is a further statement and clarification from the Norwegian Ministry of Defense:

Link

Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik stated that the country continues to provide the US military fleet with full support and supplies. The official's remarks came in response to the refusal of the Norwegian company Haltbakk Bunkers to refuel American warships, according to the Norwegian Ministry of Defense's Twitter (X) account.

In the Norwegian Ministry of Defense, during the night before March 2, a statement by Sandvik regarding reports about naval support was released.

"We have seen reports raising concerns about support for US Navy vessels in Norway," the head of the Ministry of Defense said.

He noted that this is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy.

"I can confirm that all requested support has been provided. The US and Norway maintain a close and strong defense cooperation. American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway," Sandvik's statement read.

Haltbakk Bunkers boycotts the US Navy
The corresponding statement from the Norwegian Ministry of Defense appeared following news of the decision by the management of the welding company Haltbakk Bunkers to cease refueling US warships in response to the scandalous meeting on February 28 between the American and Ukrainian presidents at the White House. This move outraged the Norwegian enterprise.

In a social media post, the company wrote, among other things, about the enormous merit of the President of Ukraine for restraining himself and maintaining calm despite the US staging a provocation.

Haltbakk’s CEO, Gunnar Gran, stated that his group is ceasing all sales of energy resources to the US armed forces and their ships, and the company also called on other Norwegian and European suppliers to join the boycott. He also noted that he runs a private company that chooses its own clients.

The head of Haltbakk Bunkers described the decision to boycott simply as moral support for the Ukrainians, and stated that we have a moral compass.

Earlier, on March 1, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated that the government would soon approach parliament with a request to increase financial support for Ukraine.

I am a DoD government civilian employee (one of the evil lazy bureaucrats we've been discussing here Smile ). I think this whole '5 things I did' is a big fat nothing burger, but my coworkers are all spun up over it. I suspect one will either refuse to comply or rage-quit over this issue. I won't miss her company (she is a giant pain in the arse), but we do need the manpower in our office. We are already one man down and we can't just 'do more with less.' And our work is vital - of we don't do our job the mission will fail.

Princess up there that had to work saturday - maybe she slacked all week, maybe she is genuinely freaked out (there are rumors we will all get fired), maybe she is just lying to make Trump/Musk/DOGE look bad.

British PM Keir Starmer is holding a Ukraine summit today to outline his plan to work with France and other unidentified countries to organize an EU "security force" for a Ukraine ceasefire, but requiring Trump to provide a U.S. troop "backstop" just in case. Fuck this guy. Given his man-hugging behavior after Zelenskyy was kicked out of the WH, Starmer can go pound sand.
