First off, if you are still doing this at 74, my hat is off to you. (not that i doubt you, just saying, that you've CERTAINLY paid your dues.)

I'm ALMOST halfway in my career. Over 12 years in, 15 to go. I got promoted to Sgt July 1st. I wanted to tell everyone here, but haven't been around the forum much due to work and other "life happens" issues.

It was what I needed to keep motivated. I'll be honest, after all the bullshit in this job for the past 7 years, I was getting close to being that jaded guy that comes unhinged in a roll call briefing.

I see these kids just starting out, assign them field trainers, try to coach them. But I wonder... What the hell were they thinking. Why in the hell would anyone ever sign up for this bullshit?

The pendulum always swings the other way, but it is gonna be a minute before it does.

I know it sucks stopping your life's work. I'm sorry that this political bullshit made you take your stand.

But if I can ask just ONE favor from you... You did this shit for 50 years. You gave all you had to give. Go enjoy your life. Let us (not so) youngsters take it from here and hope we don't fuck it up.

Kevin

First thing, thank you.

Second, you have earned your retirement. Do not have any feeling of guilt.

P.S., the part about Charles Manson. I could not even start to imagine being in the same room.

May you have a fantastic, 4th or 5th retirement.

Thank you.

I wonder with all the men of principle leaving if this is what the left wants. The men and women with standards, ethics, all on their way out.

I have been retired for many years.

This was "my hobby". I served as a conduit between the Departments and the Unions. If an officer needed evaluation, they knew I would give them an unbiased opinion. Some made it, some didn't.

They dropped me off at the house and the Mrs. was sitting on the porch snapping beans. She said "About time you old fool". She gave me a hug and a kiss.

Life is good.

If you are still on the job, think every decision thru. You might have seconds, you might have minutes but think it thru.

You retired rather than take the covid shot? Or because they mandated the covid shot?

Are you opposed to the vaccine or the vaccine mandate? Both?

Thank you for your courage to defend Liberty all these years and for making a stand against Tyranny. I can’t think of a better way to hang up one’s spurs than the latter.

Wishing you all the best in retirement.

Thank you for your service sir. I can only imagine the changes you’ve seen. God bless our law enforcement, our military and our country. I pray our country changes directions before it completely destroys itself.
