I am 74. I have been in law enforcement for most of my life.

I got out of the Navy after 6 years and came back to the dead end town I grew up in. One night, two of us were killing brain cells at a local bar. Local cop came in to arrest a guy. It was 5 on 1. We stepped in, got beat up, but the right people ended up in cuffs.

The Chief of Police offered us a job, we declined. I bounced around and and went back into the Navy. After 12 years, I got out to take the police job and went into the Naval Reserves and got a commission.

I went from the city police to a deputy. As a deputy, I worked with the Feds to track down some bad people. I sat in the same room with Charles Manson, the only criminal who ever scared me.

After me stint with in the Feds, I retired. Our children were on their own, and I returned to local police work. I was a trainer, evaluator, etc on a semi volunteer/paid basis.

I returned to fill a Chief Deputy vacancy.

I always kept my credentials current. Try passing the physical tests at age 70. I did. Damn near killed me, but I did.

Last week, the department mandated the COVID vaccine for all employees.

At my age, I could have had the requirement waived. That's not who I am.

Today, I put my shield on the Sheriff's desk. I turned in my vehicle keys and weapon.

I resigned.

Almost 50 years of law enforcement is now a history question.

I will not sacrifice my principals.

Tough choice to make, but I respect it completely. Thank you for your service all those 50 years.

You deserve some time to take it easy now and I hope you have a long, healthy retirement.

You stood up for what you believe in. That’s cool. Many people won’t do that anymore. Thank you for all your years of service, military and LEO. I hope I’m in half as good shape as you are, when I’m 70.

Now go enjoy retirement!

Awesome! Thanks!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Thank you for your service. You are to be commended for standing up for your principles.

Those very principles undoubtedly were a credit to you, and a large part of what made you a credit to the units and agencies in which you served.

i responded to your post in the other thread. You have my respect and thanks for your service. You can hold your head high, and should. I am glad you can tell the brass to pound sand and not be bullied into something that is not of your own choice. Enjoy your retirement.

And as far as no longer being a police officer. You are a retired police officer. So in my book you will always be a police officer. Albeit, now a retired one. Wink

First, I'd like to thank you for your service (military and police officer).

Second, I'd like to thank you for standing up against this new line of tyranny, which is being force upon US citizens.

You are not alone and I'm sure there's more to follow. We must stand up and take our country back!

Most importantly, I hope your retirement is as fulfilling as your career. You deserve it!
