Hagar is his name, three years old. His older sister/buddy Helga passed last year from canine lymphoma at age eight.
He is a mixed breed Mini-Bulldog. A deliberate mix from our now retired Bulldog breeder, 3/4 French Bulldog, 1/4 Old English Bulldog.
We've never had such a loyal, friendly, and playful dog. He's a living breathing cartoon.
He's no "Attack Dog" at 38 pounds, but his sentry skills are over the top.
He's a Momma's Boy, and completely understands something is wrong with his "Mommy" so he's very "clingy" now.

What were acorn sized bumps on the bucks heads a week ago, now the horns in velvet are clearly visible! This one should be a bruiser.

My adjoining neighbor to the east of our rural recreational property sent me a trail camera picture several days ago.
I figure his trail camera is located about one quarter mile from the front porch of the cabin.
What time is it? It's picnic basket time!

We measured the cabin accurately on Sunday. For purchasing Rock Wool insulation.
The first floor is all 2" x 4" construction and 16" on center.
The second story end walls are also the same.
The gambrel roof trusses are 2" x 6" construction and 16" on center.
So two different thickness types when we go and buy a trailer load of Rock Wool.

We paid $5000 to our friend & neighbor today. It's time to get going on the new "pounded" water well.

The trail camera that has overwatch duties on the cabin appears to be the camera that collects images from all of the other deployed cameras.
So it has higher battery usage than a camera further away that just takes photos and sends them up the daisy chain. (total digital data throughput)
I bought a remote battery box and extension cable for that overwatch camera specifically for the higher battery consumption rate.

I started getting low battery alarms about a week ago in the daily camera report, and yet again, it was the cabin overwatch camera.
It has four internal "D" batteries inside the camera, and six "D" batteries in the ground level remote battery box, connected by a ten foot long armored cable.

So yesterday, my motorcycle riding and hunting buddy and I went to the rural recreational property and I brought 48 new Amazon Basic "D" cell alkaline batteries.
I have a small backpack with two internal compartments, one is filled with new batteries, and the used take-out batteries go in the other.
We started inside the cabin, and worked our way out to the furthest away from the cabin trail camera and replaced all of the batteries. Most had been in use for 86 days.

When doing the batteries in the cabin overwatch camera, I was really paying attention to all the details.
When you have an external power supply connected to one of these Cuddelink trail cameras, that external power source shows up on the daily camera report.
I hadn't seen the external power source show up on the report in quite some time and I needed to figure out why.
The green plastic external battery box has raised outline diagrams/symbols of the correct battery orientation cast right into the plastic shell on the outside of the battery box.
It clearly shows one column of batteries with the plus ends going in one direction, and the second column of batteries in the opposite direction.

When I removed the end cap on the remote battery box and dumped the used batteries out into the backpack, both columns had the plus ends oriented in the same direction. DUH!
That was an easy fix! I was the cause of the external power supply not operating.
We continued changing out camera batteries and in several hours had them all replaced.
With the one new additional camera added to the system in March/April, a total system battery swap-out is 38 "D" alkaline batteries!
The Amazon Basic batteries seem to work and last as long as Eveready Energizer alkaline batteries, and are roughly 40% less cost.
And at least the "D" cell Amazon Basic batteries are not made in China.

Nice and warm, not many calories used up keeping from freezing.
Abundant green vegetation.

The velvet disguises the antlers somewhat. Meaning you can't always tell them apart until they drop the velvet.
