Contrary to “you’re a liar”, I started this thread because I was surprised that the guy got so mad at me for merely backing out of a very nascent deal. I actually thought I would get some stories from other deals gone sideways interspersed with the occasional you are the asshole here (which I addressed in the very first sentence/paragraph). lol What surprised me here was the lack of actually reading for comprehension and then the wild expansion of why I was the jerk (YOU BROKE YOUR WORD!). Yikes.

If money had passed hands then the clock is ticking. If we haven’t even proffered a price and you cold call reached out to me, I’m on island time if I want to be. Once again, I didn’t post a sales ad, he cold called me. You have every right to want me to be faster but it certainly isn’t your actual right. As for “breaking my word”, saying I will send them and sending them 2 days later is within that definition to my mind. I would be comfortable explaining that to my Lord at the Pearly Gates.

The other reason I started this post and every other post is because threads are what makes a forum vibrant. I go on the other 2 main gun forums I frequent and they are fucking ghost towns of new content. There are a handful of guys who argue the same stuff. It’s boring. I contend if you don’t like my threads, so be it, but fucking start some new ones then. I would love to read the idiotic to the sublime inner workings of the collective. But that only happens with fresh content. Even stupid, silly, or divisive content.

All’s well that ends well I guess. The original guy really wanted a pristine NIB Cougar L. I told him about the previous guy and I was in no mood to play games on a gun I would gladly throw back into the safe where it had sat for over a decade. He said he would pay a premium, I straight up said make your offer, he said a grand. That was enough to get me off the couch. lol He got the gun, he’s happy, I’m happy. Now I have some freebie gun money and am open to suggestions. What does a contrarian gun guy need for a thousand plus or minus a couple hundred?

Oh yeah, “you are all pussies if you don’t agree with me”. (That was a joke from an above poster) I had to look that one up. I was talking to one guy (smudge) and contrary to what was posted I didn’t say everyone was a pussy for not debating me about pistol braces. Smudge said they were all garbage, every one. It was also the first (and last) time I have ever heard a forum member defend how reasonable and easy the NFA is. I disagreed with that, obviously. I pressed him for his real life experience of the SBA3 breaking. He apparently didn’t have one/want to provide one so he made a flippant mean spirited remark where I then told him to FO. The thread is there. Rifle room. Pros and cons of pistol braces. I was talking to one guy, smudge. Not quite what he posted. Look it up if you care.

I hear you. I didn't see this thread going the way it did. I thought it would just be a simple swapping of tales, maybe some differing opinions, just a normal back and forth. It certainly did not turn out that way. My wife told me to not respond when guys responded to things I never said. Of course she is right but I have trouble doing that. In my defense I never argued with anyone who actually read what I wrote and thought I was at fault. I only argued with people who made shit up that didn't happen, or called me a liar or for some reason decided my olive branch wasn't THE olive branch they wanted. That one was a head scratcher. Accept it, don't accept it, this 'ain't the Jerry Springer show, we aren't having tearful moments here.

I would love to say this experience, since it turned out so well in the end, would make me sell more guns I don't need but that isn't really the case. Shipmygun.com on paper seems like a perfect solution, if not lgs friendly, but it turned out to not be the case. That sucks (plus Bud's ugh).

Oh that would have annoyed me. In reality I would only do a FTF with someone from this forum because that seems safer. I have to admit a FTF with a stranger, a gun, and money would have me bringing obvious backup and a really safe location.

Not having all the money is a bush league tactic. People can suck.

That quote from my wife was because I clearly and repeatedly referred to smultz who posted an entire preachy diatribe about how if you post a want ad it is your responsibility to monitor it. He even went so far as to say "well at least you didn't do it on this forum" Except for the small niggling detail that I didn't do it AT ALL. None of what he was preaching about happened except in his head.

That exchange took up an entire page of this 5+ page thread. I guess you missed that page. An entire page.

On the previous thread you posted, which I actually don't know how to post a link (I don't know how the nested quote thing works either) which is why I gave the title to search with where I was arguing/discussing with you and you alone. Even the most cursory read would show that. If you want me to call you out directly, so be it, yes I was calling you that name because you were a dick on that thread and it pissed me off.
