I talked with someone today who has a different type cancer than I have. He is on the same drug Opdivo as I am.
He told me his doctor told him that after 3 months on Opdivo, there was no effect on him at this point in time.
However, the doctor added that it is not unusual to see no effects at 3 months and it can take 4 or more months to start to show improvement if it is working or will work on oneself.
I don't know what to make of that.
Yes, I am apprehensive about tomorrow.
The ups and downs of this in the micro picture are bit of burden, though not unexpected.

I am thinking of the time shortly before Mrs LBJ's mother died some years ago.
She was in her eighties, had cancer and I think was days away from dying.
Her mother at the time said "Dying is for the birds."

I took that at face value thinking she meant something simple like dying sucks.
Now I understand what she really meant and her comment was quite deeper than I initially thought.
My new line of thinking about what she meant is that the long process of knowing you are dying in advance is burdensome and takes a lot out of you, that you can simply begin to grow weary of dying.

I am beginning to understand that part.
I still want to live of course for sometime yet, but still.

I have often wondered how difficult it must be for someone in your shoes to live their lives and enjoy every moment when the knowledge of what may be happening is ever present. It seems that the knowledge of it changes everything. I suppose the change could be good, or bad. But it is change. If I were going to shuffle off this mortal coil sometime in the immediate future, would I want to know? I have thought about this many times, and I still don't have an answer.

First off, let me thank everyone for their prayers for me and affirm once again my Christian faith and belief and acceptance that Christ died for my sins.

I saw the doctor this morning at 7AM.
She said the results of the CT scan exceeded expectations.

As we know, there will be no cure and no remission.
That said though, the lung tumors cannot be seen on the CT scan currently.
Half of the tumors in the lymph system also cannot be seen on the scan.
The other half of the tumors in the lymph system that can be seen have all shrunk by more than 50%.

This is stellar news and to be frank about things, unexpected by me.

Basically with that said, today... we're dancing!

Stay strong in faith LBJ!!

We too are encouraged by the latest update.

Your witness has been beneficial to me and I suspect to many others.

Prayers with you Sir!

Thank you all.

The wife is relieved as well as I am that perhaps I get some extra time.

Oldest daughter cried during a phone call from me with the news and younger daughter screamed in the phone with delight over the news.

I just got back from the range after shooting my AR15. It was a celebratory thing, you know?

I didn't sleep at all last night and should have gone to bed after the early morning doctor visit and infusion treatment, but I just had to go bust a few caps just because.

Obviously I couldn't sleep because of the apprehension, though I did not specifically think too much about the upcoming results all night.

Great News.

God Bless.

Roy

PS: you can get a copy of the Scan on a disc and they will play in a computer. At least mine did.

I brought a disc to my Thoracic Surgeon and she said she already had one sent to her and she was looking at it just before my appointment.

I asked her how does it look? She took me into her office and showed me the stents she placed and the area of Cancer has shrunk. She said I can take it home and it will run on my PC.

There is a viewer program on the disc to install.

She is the only MD out of all 5 I had working on me that really studied the Scan Discs. I still have a few Discs at home.

PS: She was a good Looking Tall Czech Blond

After each scan, the doctor has asked me if I wanted to view them.

I have always declined.
I have not seen any of the scans during this ordeal... on purpose.
It's just the way I'm built.
