Since this appears to be a pistol, isn't the vertical fore grip a no-no?

Yup, that is now an AOW.

I read that if it's over 26" in length, a vertical grip can be put on it. [edited to add...] It's 26.5" without muzzle device and with buffer tube staked in. I was concerned about the legality, and looked into the matter before installing the vertical grip.

New build.

PSA 18" stainless rifle-length upper with 15" Keymod handguard
Anderson lower
Tom's Tactical lower parts kit with NiB FCG
Tom's Tactical nitride BCG
BCM Gunfighter grip, stock, trigger guard, charging handle, and foregrip
Larue Index Clips
Midwest Industries Keymod panels
Troy offset sights
Primary Arms 2.5x Prism ACSS-CQB sight
Blue Force Gear VCAS sling
Lancer L5AWM magazine

And an older rifle that just got a bit of a facelift, by rearranging some of the Noveske NSR panels, and adding some camo Larue index clips, a BCM hand stop, and some Ergo Wedgelok covers. (Still needs a "real" optic, though.)

Correct. As long as it's over 26", it's fine.

Just remember that the 26" is measured from the end of the buffer tube to the muzzle of the barrel. Arm braces and muzzle devices don't count, unless they're permanently affixed.

A sad state of affairs. My optics match rifle. In August of 2014 I took off the Saber Defense barrel and replaced it with one from Rainier Arms. I finally sighted it in the other day. Needless to say, I'm not shooting too many matches these days. Frown

This is definitely illegal - either you have to register it as an SBR or AOW and pay your NFA tax.

RogueJSK is correct on this. You can not put a vertical foregrip. Hand stop and angled foregrips are ok. Over 26 inches is fine.
