Set up my rockchucker, organized the bench, set the die to resize the neck.

Bullet, primers and powder get delivered this Thursday. Can't wait.

Will start load development for my 308.

What are you using?? I just ended Round #1 on .308 load development. Settled on a Berger 185gr Jugg/Varget combo as primary, and 175gr SMK/ RL15 as secondary. Hoping to pick up some Allusnt 2000 or use some on-hand IMR4895 to get a bit more speed going. I maxed out on the Varget for speed.

Keep us posted!

What are you getting with that 185?

I have some 185 Berger Hybrid target bullets that I got 2600 fps with 43.5 Gr Varget. I only have one solid chrono run with the so far. Need more data.

Match snuck up on me this past weekend and I had nothing loaded for it other than those 185's I had loaded for a second chrono run.

Outcome: ugly!

Im running 40.9gr Varget getting 2505fps trued to 2450fps at 825yds the last time out. I know its a bit slow...OK ALOT slow, but its getting me to 1K. I tried to find the next node up, but was unsuccessful. Since Im loading them magazine length @ 2.835", Im running out of space in the case.

I'm using IMR-4895 and 168SMKs. Will start at 41.0 grans and work up in 0.5 gr increments to see where rifle groups better.

I'm loading every thing to 2.25" base to ogive. The 185 hybrids are very long. Probably 2.95 COAL.

Two weeks ago I loaded 250 rounds of 357sig HP cartridges at an average of 1,416 fps for a power factor of 177.

Last week received my order for the cheapest Lee single stage press, Hornady Cam-Lock bullet pulling die and two RCBS bullet pulling collets. I assumed the RCBS collets would work with the Hornady bullet puller but I was wrong. I then ordered the Hornady collets and while waiting for those to arrive, I find out the Hornady is for rifle bullets only and I don't have any rifles. Assumption is the mother of all f**kups. At that point I either needed to buy some rifles to make use of the Hornady bullet puller or I needed to order the RCBS bullet puller. I went with the RCBS die.

I did try to use the Hornady to pull some pistol bullets and it does work some of the time, but it damages too many bullets. The RCBS die is due to arrive tomorrow.

Got the RCBS bullet puller. Works great and since I've accumulated about 500 cartridges over the last ten years that need dissasembly, life will be easier than if I had to use a kenetic puller.

I shot 4 different loads today, all at COAL of 2.803" with WW primers, 168gr SMKs and IMR 4895.
41.0gr = 0.625"
41.5gr = 1.125"
42.0gr = 1.25"
42.5gr = 0.75"

I like the velocity of the 42.5gr load (~26000fps), but the 41.0gr(2450fps) grouped tighter. Will load up a little more (45gr max) and then work on COAL testing next with best groups.

Ordered the Lehigh defense 300blk sampler pack Lehigh sampler pack . Since they don't recommend the 174gr for SBR's I had them switch them out for another pack of the 194's. Seems like a pretty good deal if you were looking at picking some of them up for 300blk. I'm anxious to see how well they do for such an expensive bullet.

I got my package from Lehigh Defense... 100 of the 194gr bullets, 100 of the 110gr bullets, and 50 pieces of their brass. I'm looking forward to loading up the 194gr for some sub hunting this fall Smile. Not sure if I'm going to keep the 110's or not since I have some 110gr Barnes TAC-X bullets.

Loaded some 223's with my (somewhat) new 650. Man, I really like this thing. I'm still working on a good plinking load with some CFE223 and Hornady 55gr FMJ's, but I wanted to see what it would do so I timed it. I loaded 12 in 1 minute at just a "normal" pace, allowing the powder to drop into the case. That's 720 rounds per hour! I'm sure it will be even faster with pistol. I'm looking forward to turning these components I've been buying into some ammo Smile

Oooooh. Aaaaaah. If I didn't have such a nice bench myself, I'd definitely have bench envy over that!!! Big Grin

As for what I did today, I read the (short) instruction manual for the new RCBS Ultrasonic Cleaner I just bought. Cool
