| Back when I lived in NY and had a permit I was told by the Sheriff’s department that any firearm used in a shooting would be destroyed no matter how legal the use. I don’t know if that is still policy but if so I wouldn’t carry anything I wouldn’t want to lose. |

Friends thought I was nuts for carrying my Les Baer for that reason. I told them if it saves my life, cheap insurance. Even if you get it back, it'll be rusted, dinged up, etc. Even officer firearms. I have heard/read about some departments engraving the case number on the firearm! That is just wrong on so many levels.
