How does the S&W compare to the H&K for size and concealability? It's got to be the smallest of the .45s you have listed. Given that yours has been completely reliable (with your carry loads?), that might be your best bet.

If you are sticking to the 3 choices you listed, I would go with the 320 solely for the fact it's still in production, has readily available parts (i.e. springs and mags). While I love my two P7 psp's, finding mags requires the trading of a kidney, and other relevant parts are very hard to come by.

The HK is certainly smaller, I dont have a photo hosting account otherwise I’d take a few pics. Being somewhat of a double stack mag (almost) the 320 is thicker than the other two.

I’ve got several mags so that’s not too much of an issue, but they are plenty costly! You’re certainly right about breaking parts and potential probs finding them, they ain’t going to be cheap either. Plus all of the HK squeeze cockers go for stupid money now, so devaluating it by finish wear and whatever else may not be the smartest move. Just sticking with the three guns I own right now, but adding to the collection is always a possibility! I’ve got to shoot my brother in laws 365. May go that way as I’m a Sig guy.

I suspect that the 320 magazine is also longer then the others. It sounds like you want to pack the H&K.

Out of the three I have that would best suit to job, yes. May add the 365 later if I like it.

I have a P245 and a S&W 45 Shield (two Colts too) That Shield is thin light and easy to manage. It's a great winter option despite the other 3 options.Again what's good for one may not be good for another

Flying by the seat of my pants, here: Are our friends in NY still limited to carrying JUST the serial numbers listed on the permit?

If so, I'd give serious thought to the P320, just for the ability to change configurations (full size/compact/subcompact, calibers, etc) without needing to add a new gun to the permit.

Good points about the 320 variations. Ive got a full sized slide with Vortex Red Dot for USPSA games, and the Carry slide with irons for carry. Yes, we can only carry whats on our permits.

He's got the .45, his options are a little limited. He can drop to a compact grip frame, make it a little smaller in the butt but he loses a round 9 vs 10. While I don't own the .45 model I've used the 9mm version for several years. You have to be careful with full size and compact magazines. A Compact mag will fit in a full size pistol but it will not feed. It would stick if you showed up to a match with the full size grip and compact magazines and not be able to shoo. I recommend that you either go with the compact grip frame which will feed from both magazine sizes or different color/type of magazine baseplates for the different sizes. For example, my full size magazines all have tan floorplates.

What I found with 9mm 320 is that I liked the 320 XCOMPACT the best for CCW, but with the 10 round limit, the P365 was easier to conceal and lighter with the same capacity and similar shoot ability.

I definitely get what you’re saying about the mag lengths and different grips. Thanks for the reminder. Too bad that 365 is not available in .45.

If caliber is that critical to you, take a look at the .45 S&W Shield. It's not a SIG, but the Shields have been around a long time. They are similar in size, but the shield is heavier, bigger and only carries 6-7 round. I've shot the .4 Shield (GEN1) and found it an acceptable pistol. Plus, they are rather affordable.

^I’ll check out the Smith but 6-7 rounds is kind of weak. I like the .45 caliber for certain, and being restricted to a 10 round mag, I’d much prefer 10 45’s over 10 9mm’s.

As a former New York resident ( left 10 years ago and it has only gotten worse since in regards to handgun ownership) every handgun you own must be listed by serial number on the permit.

I myself would not let caliber or capacity enter the equation ( within reason) just carry what you shoot best and offers the best compromise regarding efficiency of use and conceal ability / carry comfort.

If you believe the current prevailing opinion, there is no measurable difference in on target performance between the primary service calibers of 9/40/45
The ten round mag limit does pigeon hole you, but the difference between say an 8+1 gun and a 10+1 gun is in my mind inconsequential.

I now live in thank the Lord free America ( Arizona) where I could carry open or concealed a bazooka if I wanted and no one would bat an eye.
Even still my most carried guns are pocket carried J frames and a ruger LCPII. These easily carried and concealed light guns a dear friend of mine called “always guns” and I firmly believe the 380/38 in your pocket every day without fail beats the bigger larger caliber or capacity gun you carry “ most of the time”

For those unfamiliar the current NY is the worst it has ever been in regards to concealed carry, with the current law stating you-can only enter
Buildings that display a sign that concealed handguns are allowed. A day trip that resulted in stops at the gas station, a restaurant and a few stores could very easily result in every location being a no gun zone. I could go on and on, but if someone makes the personal decision to carry regardless of signage/ regulations, a deep cover highly concealed gun is a must

I agree with you on most parts however I’d say it has become easier for a regular Joe like me to get a full carry, but lots of restrictions have been installed by Gov. Bitch. Regarding your point above, that has been revised and now “Gun Free” establishments must post a conspicuous sign declaring so, rather than vice versa.
