One that impressed me since my young age is the one about the legless RAF pilot.

Reach For the Sky?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049665/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Correct! First I replied THEN I googled it When I watched the movie I was a kid. TV was B&W and no VO and subtitles. I doubt it was ever shown down here with it`s original title or anything even close. Wink

Thank you.

There are so many great ones, but To Hell and Back, while far from the best, is my favorite.

An honorable mention as a very good and very affecting movie is What Price Glory?, set in World War I and starring Jimmy Cagney.

Surprised that one hasn’t been mentioned yet.

"The Great Parade" - 1925. Deals with the horrors of WWI.

"Paths of Glory" - 1957. Banned in France.

I just finished watching Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart, a 1955 film.

Not a war actually going on, so I hope this one is ok to mention here.

It’s a good story, rather wholesome, feel good movie, I like it.

No blood and guts, just a good flying film featuring the B47 plane.

Dawn Patrol,, both 1930 and 1938. I like the 1938 one a little better. But then I like Errol Flynn.
