I really doubt there is any connection,

read Herberts work, and notice the (Better) depictions of the peoples on different planets in the first part (the Sadaukar as example)

surely 10,000 yrs in the future, people will not all look like they do now, and not all brown either,

Have you watched any of the sound extras? Pretty interesting. Zimmer seems legit. Big Grin

This is true. My sister was visiting when Dune came out. We saw it in the theater and thought it was awesome. The next night we both thought “Let’s watch it again, maybe we missed some stuff.” Streamed it on HBO Max and the audio was horrible. Not even the same movie. I ordered the 4K blu ray and it is solid.

So either see Dune 2 in the theater or get the disc - the streaming version will be disappointing.

You can stream from Apple TV and Prime as well in 4K UHD, so there are options out there.

I will be going IMAX opening weekend for this one.

Yep. Streaming is trash, trash audio. Even the PQ is compressed.

I mean it’s a night and day difference on 4k blu ray. I built a HT in 2019 and have my own Dolby Cinema. I have no need to ever set foot in the commercial cineplexes ever again. As long as you get the appropriate screen size for your MLP, you get the “big screen” experience at home. IMAX can’t even compete with my audio setup. Nothing like Atmos, 11 speakers, and two 15’s that you can feel in your chest with proper LFE. Denis’s soundtracks are some of the best in the industry as well. His Dune and BR2049 are total reference films in terms of PQ and SQ. Can’t wait, and will pre-order the 4k blu ray.

Can’t wait to pre-order the 4k blu ray. Skipping streaming it first this time.

Is the #1 cheapest here good enough? Or is 2nd or 3rd higher tier necessary? Will just use to play bluray disks - will not use "smart" capabilities.

Any Panasonic player is good to go, and you can also put blu rays on repeat if you like going to sleep watching movies like me.

Konata -

I have an earlier version if the 800 series player and it handles all formats well… which is what you are you paying for when you upgrade in a 4K BD player.

If your audio system is basic, the cheaper players will do… if you’re really into Dolby Atmos discs and want your player to handle all the newfangled formats that are the “cutting edge” of high def audio/video… go for the more expensive player.

I'm very much excited to see it.

I'm typically a Dolby cinema guy however the theaters on this list are where to get the best version of the movie. I think it'll be worth the travel and I'll likely make a short flight to go see this.

Thanks - I'll go cheap or maybe one step up. I have an older receiver that's just capable of UHD content. Doesn't have all the newer audio codecs. But sounds like audio should still be improved over streaming.

Looks like there may be a 3rd film too, based on Dune Messiah to complete the arc.
