PTA + Leonardo, damn! One of the best directors there is. Looking forward to this.

Did anyone see this film? I wanted to see what the forum has to say, if ya’ll think it’s worth a watch or not.

Saw the trailer and thought it looked like leftist propaganda. That seemed to be what I was reading about it after release. Was I wrong??

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

I had to turn it off, leftist propaganda film regarding their biggest wet dream. White supremacy real Nazis are running the world. Don’t waste a second of your time.

That’s why I was hesitant about watching it.

It’s a movie. An entertaining, off beat movie. Some will like it, some will hate it, just like every other movie ever made. Those with tender sensibilities should probably skip it tho Wink

I thought it was strange and all the hype about it seems unwarranted.

The movie was good. And it’s a PTA film so good means, I would say average. It’s not usually PTA solid. It was made and acted well however. It’s just the story of protesters going to extreme measures…had they set this in the 60’s/70’s with Leonardo, OK. But in a modern setting? Nah. And most of the subject matter was border jumpers and the support for them doing it. It’s a film, and not fucking politics, but it was just too much.

I will say, Sean Penn was got damn hilarious in it. His character just had me rolling and rolling. He nailed that role. And there is a character named “pussy”. There is a scene with the stereotypical white male heads of figures discussing said character. One says to the other she’s gone or something like that. And the guy responds “I guess no pussy then”, I mean there are some hilarious points in the film. I would say it’s worth watching but temper your politics so you know what you are getting into. An average or below average PTA film is better than 90% out there because there are very very few films coming out in an entire calendar year worth watching now. Those Hollywood fucks have put all their monies into episodic crap to cater to Gen Z and their bird sized brains.

Thanks Pre, good review. I may give it a watch just to see Sean Penn’s performance. I could use a laugh.

I tried to watch it. If you like weird offbeat stuff you might like it. I think PTA is overrated as shit. Being artistic doesn’t mean you can make a movie worth watching on a regular basis. Most of his movies are wildly unenjoyable to watch. The part I watched of this one was stupid as shit.

I guess I have tender sensibilities. Or maybe I would rather wax my toes for 90 minutes than be forced to watch anymore of that garbage.

I enjoyed the cinematography and acting but thought the story went nowhere and the characters were unimportant and unimpressive.

I did kind of like the depiction of the lack of commitment from these “revolutionary protesters” and from the “bad white supremacist man.” They’re all hypocrites and it also echoes the disillusionment of the hippies throughout the 70s and 80s.

It was not as unwatchable as Inherent Vice but not in the same league as TWBB, Boogie, Magnolia, or The Master, or even The Phantom Thread. I haven’t seen Licorice Pizza and haven’t seen PDL or Hard Eight in a long time.

Licorice Pizza was actually good. Bradley Cooper was fucking hilarious. It’s very light hearted, kind, and a coming of age story. Some hilarious scenes in the film. The kind of hot black woman in the waterbed store. The scams the protagonist tries to pull. Decent watch.

It’s streaming on Paramount so I’ll be watching it sometime this week.

I made it about 6 or 7 minutes into this film before turning it off. What a complete piece of shit.
