I want to say that my introduction to his work was in the role of Ned Pepper, in the 1969 "True Grit". A great actor, with roles that he made great. | |||

One of my favorite actors because of this. His authenticity always came through whether it was the Godfather, the Natural, Jack Reacher, Open Range, We Own the Night, or Crazy Heart. I will miss him and his work. But 95 is a good run. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone | |||
